When performing Finite Element Analysis and interpreting results, it is important to adopt habits and procedures to check result accuracy and look for issues with the study setup. In this video, a simple study displays a very odd response that indicates a problem with accuracy. Follow along as our expert recommends habits to adopt when reviewing study results to better understand the results and work towards more accurate results. Adopting some of these habits helps to establish confidence in the result and identify simple issues that can ruin progress.
Habit #1: Animate a result plot with an automatic/exaggerated scale.
Habit #2: Display a stress plot with a mesh boundary overlay.
Habit #3: Compare result forces at the fixtures to the force input magnitudes and directions.
Habit #4: Check the energy norm error for mesh-based stress inaccuracies.
Habit #5: Refine the mesh and monitor stress magnitude for convergence.
