Hii!! Can someone explain to me how uk based school work? Classes and all? I am really very curious but google is very confusing about it

in sixth form college (yr 12-13) i’m doing a 2 year a-level course, u can pick 3-4 subjects to do (i do bio, chem and media). everyone has different time tables but in sixth form which is structured different to college, you usually wont have a full day of school like in high school, you’ll have ‘study periods’ where your not in lesson, u can leave school and do what you want but you are expected to study and be productive. in my school, classes are 1hr 10mins long. we get homework regularly and have mini tests on fridays. in my school we have assessments like at the end of every month, the bigger exams usually called ‘mocks’ but we call is ‘synoptics’ take place in january etc. the final exams are at the end on the 2 year course. = determines your ability to get into university (if thats what u want to do) i do alevels but there are other options e.g. t-levels, apprenticeships etc. (i dont know much about them so I can’t really explain it). alevels are much harder than gcses (which is what you do at highschool) despite only taking 3-4 subjects unlike the 8+ in highschool. hope this helped, i don’t know if i explained it well but 😅😅💗
