Dozenspeed is an independent film maker from St. Louis Missouri, and founding curator for the Dozenspeed Film Foundation, a modest archive of original historical video footage.
This video was funded and produced and is copyright exclusively by the Dozenspeed Film Foundation, unless otherwise specified.
The Dozenspeed Film Foundation is very grateful to artists who allow use of their music in our videos.
I think of myself as a Sentimental Video Artist, something I've never heard of but that I feel best expresses my motivation and purpose behind my video creations. The goal is to contribute to the documentation of history in some small way, while evoking emotion, memories and nostalgia for fellow humans, well enough to make a living.
The videos on this channel are for art and entertainment purposes only, no warranty is either expressed or implied. The choice of an existential tour guide is an important decision and should not be made solely on the basis of videos on this channel.
If you own or can otherwise authorize access to something you think I might like to curate footage of, document or promote, or for sponsorship and donation inquiries you can reach out to me at:

If you have a local business (with a physical location) in the St. Louis region and would like a commercial spot created for this channel at no cost to you for the sake of posterity and whimsy, please contact.
The Dozenspeed Film Foundation is also interested in supporting local musicians willing to allow usage of their work suitable to our content (primarily instrumental) for publicity under license.
Dozenspeed currently isn't on any other platforms, with no other channels. Everything is kept here for simplicity and productivity. (I have an unused Twitter for emergency fail safe purposes only)

This beautifully filmed video gives ideas for a better way to teach history. This town was not founded by the "forty-eighters" but did attract them, that is, those German immigrants whose unsuccessful revolution in Germany in 1848 compelled them to leave their European homes for greater freedom in the U.S. Does such a lesson not speak more directly to students than a list of English Acts, Tariffs and Taxes? Note that the influence of those immigrants who settled in Maeystown can yet be seen today as this video illustrates.

Absolutely fascinating. I got a kick out of the Victrola Record Player. I played one as a kid. I did not know that the front came off. Thanks for taking your time to tour Maeystown. David Braswell, age 73 and born in March of 1947 is about my age. David was truly a gentleman loving his community. I'll be sending him a birthday card to tell him about this KZbin video. Eaglegards...

Epic comment, thanks for watching. This production was a great experience, and I think among the most important ones I've done. It took 3 months to edit and publish. When I did, I called up the town and informed a proprietor who said they'd pass the message along. I don't like to be pushy, so I left it at that. I don't know if David or anyone else in Maeystown knows about this video, I've not heard anything or been back since sadly (so much to do, so little time) but I hope they find it decent. It might actually bring a visitor now since it got a little KZbin algorithm traffic recently, two weeks ago this video only had about 800 views in 2.5 years. I prefer genuine "word of mouth" promotion versus me badgering people and have always hoped to hear David and his friends saw this result he and I put considerable effort into, so thanks again. Cheers

The man who helped to found Maeystown was Jacob Maeys who was,if memory serves, a stone mason.I know people who are directly related. Not sure if they're still in Maeystown, it's been decades

I don't recall Mr. Braswell talking about direct descendants, but seems quite possible.
