Lovely old tech! I have a special place in my heart for my first mobile computer, the MDA vario, 15y old, also with stylus...and still working.

I had the original Psion version of this (the series 5), and I had a predecessor, the Psion Series 3c. Used them to type notes in university lectures. Even managed to get online with them with a 14.4bps modem that was bigger than the "palmtop" computer!

The don't make smart phones like they use to. I still have a Palm and a Palm Treo 600 phone kicking around somewhere.

Palm Vx was the best PDA I ever had! The symbol writing recognition was just amazing

@@PSAfterHours I use to have a app that could download webpages on to my Palm so i could read stuff on the bus on the way to work. As for my Treo before the days mobile companies (about 2004) caught on to mobile data I had unlimited data (64kbs) it also worked abroad :)

It's better than a smart phone for work or writing because of it's long term power efficiency for just 2 AA batteries.

I would not say "better". It seems to be very useful, but on the longer run, modern smartphones are just better

But that idea had started about 10 years earlier with a device called not Newtonpad or whatever but atari portfolio beautifull idea ... and I still have all the Palm Pilot of the 1997 onwards like Palm III, IV and V before the colour screen started and the Handspring ones beside the Sony Clie, the most beautifull ones back then.
