For the guys still running a spring buffer. Throw some wheel bearing grease on the spring. It quiets it down by alot. Not the cleanest method, but very effective. I'm sure it there's someone that will day it adds friction and effects your gas system, but in my experience doing it, there's little to no difference. After 500 rounds with the grease on the spring, it maintains the smooth quiet function, but did start to seep grease at the back of the receiver. When I say seep, I mean it shows if you have your rifle painted. Not a glob oozing out. Nice little hack a gun smith showed me until you can upgrade your buffer. Give it a try.

I swapped out to my standard buffer system < I always keep in My rifle bag> And bam back in action ate and spat the brass with no problems. When I got home I took the 2 stage apart and cleaned it up, wasn't that dirty to be honest. But I know there's more parts moving in between so that could cause a failure.

@@MRD0889 I would replace the springs’ they are a consumable part. In my particular case’ all my Ar’s including my Ar .308/6.5 have lightweight titanium bcgs and adjustable gas blocks so my recoil is less and so is the reciprocating mass. I have over 1k thru my 10.5 with an frt 15 and 1k thru my 16” ar-15 and my .308 AR. I do have spare springs for all the parts for all my rifles and hand guns including springs for my armaspec buffers. I do have standard buffers and buffer springs too. @@MRD0889 I run a 10.5" 7.62x39 carbine AR pistol with the 2 stage Gen 2 H3 Armaspec rn but before I was using that I had the Geisselle Super 42 braided spring with an H2 buffer. I didn't particularly care for a quieter action, I wanted the 2 stage system to reduce that heavy recoil from the buffer bottoming out, and i wanted more reliable feeding. I'm gonna have to do some more shooting with it but the difference in felt recoil is really noticeable. However much like you, I immediately noticed it caused more damage to my brass, it almost shows signs of increased pressure on the rim of the cartridge which is really strange. I think this issue would be solved by armaspec simply making a stronger spring available to replace the first "stage" long spring. Now, I'm also using an enhanced extractor/bcg, so I may just have too much tension on the casings but I'm not sure..

@sciji3118
@sciji3118 Жыл бұрын
@@LowBudgetKZbinridk if anyone answered you so I'll try, the biggest thing is reliability which is assured by most companies by making the weapon over gassed on purpose, this means that it can also cause damage over time and the way you tell if it's overgassed is the ejection pattern. Ejection pattern is when firing the cartridge case is ejected and bounces off the deflector behind the ejection port, if it's bouncing off more forward of the ejection port than 3 o clock to 430ish o clock it's overgassed which can be mitigated by adding weight to buffer. If cartridges are bouncing off the deflector behind the 3 o'clock position it's likely under gassed or you should lower the weight in the buffer until it's at 3 o'clock position otherwise it's gonna take more than weight. Everything you could ever really learn without doing the things with the things can be learned right here on YT so you're in the right place so do your research and enjoy tinkering. Also, the best buffer system for the money I've seen so far is by strike industries it's a kit that comes with everything and they sell upgraded springs too if I'm not mistaken.

Just bought the SMB Gen3. Although it DOES eliminate the annoying“twang” you get with a standard buffer spring, it is EXTREMELY difficult to remove from the buffer tube. The hammer is in the way and you have to force it out pretty hard. Still not sure I’m keeping it but it works fine.

@danefuentes3877
@danefuentes3877 Жыл бұрын
No, I’m referring to the hammer that strikes the firing pin. The detent is an inconvenience at most. But due to the fact that the SMB is a solid steel rod, it doesn’t bend out of the way the buffer and spring does. You can kind of see it in this video @1:45. In the video, the SMB buffer is resting on top of the hammer. However, once it is installed, when you try to remove the SMB, the bolt-side face of the SMB buffer rests against the back of the hammer when it is cocked and it takes some serious elbow grease to get it past the hammer. Uncocking the hammer doesn’t help either because then it just becomes even taller.

@@loviticuss I have an aero precision lower and that is the first thing I tried. Not enough post-travel to allow the SMB to come out of the buffer tube. WIth all due respect, do you actually own an SMB, or are you just spitballing here? So far, I've decided to keep it in but it's still not any easier to remove. I got a couple of questions. Please excuse me if I missed it in the video. 1) Are these mil-spec or commercial parts? And more importantly!! 2) Where can I get a buffer tube like the one in the video!?

Does when you get into suppressing your rifle. Or if you switch to something like this. Then you don’t want to go back.

Armaspec should make different weight springs so we can fine tune our ar platform like the JP.

They do make and sell them. I bought every weight. I have them all. 3 or 4 in total.

They clearly show on the website what to do with the spring to fine tune it a quarter pound at a time. Pay attention.

@@Ih8liarsandusersweird though because according to everything I read online, cutting or shortening a spring actually increase it’s effective spring rate and does not make the spring softer.

@michaelnyden8056 It reduces the preload. I'm not sure the effect that has on this system though.

Lots of bounce when closing. Needs more deadblow action on close like the stock buffer.

Are you running a carbin gas system or a mid length??? I’m interested in getting the H2, which is 4.7 ounces but I see some people with lighter and I see some people with heavier. I want to know what’s best for a mid gas system 16 inch barrel.!!!

This one looks like it may even be better than the JP one. This appears to not have any rubber O rings, which ends up being a failure point on the JP every few thousand rounds. Does anyone have any first hand experience of the long term reliability of this?

I’m at least 2500- 3000 rounds deep on the G2. I’m starting to think about replacing the spring, but no issues. For the price I prefer this to the JP.
