Good and rich soil is usually darker. In cities, when houses are finished, they use soil that is usually mixed with sand, which is cheaper and allows water to pass through better so that there is no flooding. 畑づくり、楽しそうですね。 私はガーデニング起因の家庭菜園ごっこではありますが、野菜用のプランターが毎年増えて庭がどんどん狭くなっています（笑） 自分で野菜作りすると、農薬を使わないので防虫ネットなど初期投資が結構かかって相当割高ではありますが、成長を楽しみながら収穫を喜び、自分で作ったものをいただけることはとても大きな悦びです。

Thank you for sharing this. I loved it that you left your picture frame empty (at the start of the video). I find it very symbolic. The garden is a wonderful idea. Best of luck! It'll be hard work but immensely rewarding. And, after all, you are not afraid of hard work. My husband and I don't have a garden but we volunteer at a local community allotment. We grow fruits and vegetables and share them with the community. We've only been doing this for a year and we started from scratch just like you, but it's amazing what nature can create with a little bit of help (just like the golden osmanthus tree, or your humble potato bud! 🙂). Yes, grow vegetables that will heal your body. Grow a few flowers to heal your soul. Marigolds are good to keep a number of insects away from your vegetables. Golden Osmanthus can be propagated by taking NON-FLOWERING vigorous shoots in summer and potting them up. Or you can do layering, pinning the non-flowering shoots into the ground with pins. Hope this helps.

Oh wow, what a nice little garden that you have! That's a great idea, too, about cultivating the land to grow vegetables. You certainly save some money, and you'd have better control over your health and where your food comes from. With vertical gardening, you could probably fit a lot of plants into that space, too.
