I do like seeing you playing Ark for the first time and I just wanted to give you a few beginner tips with taming dinos so you can have a slightly easier time doing it- 1) To knock out a dino you need blunt weapons that can do Torpidity damage(knock out damaged essentially) because sharp weapons won't do it. 2) You can force feed knocked out dinos Narcoberries to keep them asleep longer if needed. (Also Mejoberries are the preferred food for most herbivores when it comes to early taming food.) 3) If a dino has babies following it around you can claim the babies(taming them) after you either kill or tame the parent. Those are my beginner tips for taming for you so I hope that they will be useful if you end up playing more Ark in the future.

I'm impressed you managed to knock out a trike without using tranq arrows! You'll need spoiled meat and narcoberries to make narcotics, which you can then use to make tranq arrows or to feed knocked out dinos to keep em sleepy. Herbs also tend to like purple berries better than the other ones!

The "I've been here for two minutes" happens alot in ark. It isn't a gret feeling when you spawn in on aberration just to get killed by a basilisk in 10 seconds (or raptors, carnos, ravagers etc).

I'm also a relatively new Ark player myself, at least for legitimate solo survival gameplay. I want to give you some advice - acquire the tranq arrows blueprint, they're super easy to make needing only rotten meat and narcoberries for narcotics and then combining your arrows with said narcotics to make a borderline sureproof plan of knocking the dinosaur you want unconscious. When you kill a dinosaur that you see traveling with a baby, if you quickly rush to the baby you can imprint on it and instantly tame it to be your own. You have to have its required food/diet on you, because as soon as it's tamed they have extremely low health and are starving - as you feed it make sure to stay by its side so that way it's safe while it matures to adulthood. I'd love to see you make more Ark videos! The game is a ton of fun so far and I've been having a blast myself.

Some tips for you a hatchet gathers hide and stone better and a pickaxe gather meat and flint/metal better, I’d recommend when you are a high enough level to make a raft or two as they will give you a ton of xp when you craft it. Also the herbivores prefer eating the purple berries (mejo berry) it makes them tame faster and it raises the taming effectiveness which gives them more levels when you tame them

I’ve found in many videos that when ppl do this I even learn a lot from it too, just like when Owl had a torch on his belt. I never knew you could do that till now. It’s just a fresh perspective and it’s cool how on games so well documented, there can still be the little things ppl find.

I always prefer to play this game as more of a nomad- One dinosaur, just wandering around survivin'. It kinda gets ruined for me when you have a giant base and tons of dinosaurs

This is me with aberration. Beating island and scorch was fun cuz they are hard but no too hard and grundy. Then I got to aberration and my God is so fucking grindy and feels like a complete chore. Each time I get in the mood to play I play for like 30mins then get bored and get off lmao

You can have a big base with tons of dino's and still go out being a nomad with your favourite dino.. Just return every now and then to feed your dino's

that's true, I was playing on the island on some random server and I built a huge base with my friends, and then we never logged back on because feeding the dinos took forever because we had a lot of them, and some of them needed a lot of food.

Blunt weapons do torpor, so you can knock out low-level dinos. That is fists, slingshot, and clubs. For high levels, you want the tranq arrows, which require narcotics. I'll always remember my first night in Ark. Getting attacked by a dilo in my straw hut, then passing out because I ate some narco berries. Lol

some tips for you Owl: If you want more meat from corpses use the pick if you want more hide use the axe, for stone use the axe also and for flint the pick is the best option

So here are a few tips that could help you lots in the future : -> axe gather more stone, wood and hide while pickaxe gather more flint/ metal/ cristal, thatch and meat, -> when you have a stack of meat split them individually (make so instead you have a stack of ten, you have ten individual pieces idk if am clear?) so that it'll rot faster then you'll be able to make more narcotics for more trank arrows, -> some dino's are good at gathering specific ressources : ankylosaur for metal, doedicurus for stone + you can harvest special ressources on certain dino's : trilobite for silica pearls and oil, kairuku for organic polymer, -> if you want to level up your dino's faster make them destroy trees it gives lots of experience, -> I highly recommend to boost your world settings so that you collect more ressources otherwise it will soon get tideous and VERY boring (and trust me, you'll need to gather LOTS of ressources in the near future and you don't want just 10 wood by tree or something like that), -> I personally always have two bows on me in case one breaks but also just to have one for normal arrows and one for trank arrows (I also always have a minimun of 100 stone arrows on me, you never what will happen) I could say a lot more about the map but I'll let you discover that by yourself :D

You use the dinos to gather berries / thatch / wood / etc. Once you get them. Paras are good at getting berries early game. There's some pretty good tutorials. There's even an app that'll tell you how many tranq arrows,etc. a creature will need. But yeah, there's all sorts of good info around. I had to read up on this game when I first played it, going in blind was too aggravating.

You got the first tip down use rocks and the terrain to kite and escape. If you're ever getting chased by something lead it into something bigger 😉 Make a lot of bolas for the smaller faster predators Bola and bow or Bola and spear. Back step at the appropriate speed and spear things from a distance. Or like you were trying to do fighting that dilo on a rock. Spear is your best friend primitively.
