But after your 3rd, 4th+ readthrough, over the course of years of life and lessons, each chapter will unfold into an entirely new book. Also, what do you think when people say "demons" live in Mantharis? Do you think they are just people that are so wicked that the rest of the world considers them as demons? And what about the demons that live along the river Ash and Stygai? Are those wicked people too, a force of nature like the others and the children, some kind of unknown monster or creature, or maybe something else?

Hey Quinn, wanted to clarify demons in Christian Theology (specifically East Catholic/Orthodox). In these theologies, a demon is just a form without matter (or just a soul) that uses thought (logissmoi) to assail the faithful with negative thoughts, emotions, etc... Check out the Ikon "The Ladder of Divine Ascent". It sort of captures all these aspects you mentioned.

This was a very good video. Specially i liked your observation that not a single character had it perfect. Just like real life. Everyone is beaten by Life in the Story as well. Even Petyr Baelish who is playing so well the Game of Thrones had it served a bad deal in his Beginning... End is still unknown... But the guy is having the most fun as of now. But, the humiliation he must have experienced... The Breaking of his World View , Trust, at a tender age...

One of the funniest passages I ever read was about demons, in a book by Roger Zelazny, Lord of Light,, I believe.. It went something like: They were not demons in the classical sense, which is to say, supernatural creatures of enormous power and malefic intent. They weren't supernatural.

Outwardly, getting his face shoved into a brazier is explanation enough for The Hound's fear of fire. Just so, I've always wondered if The Hound heard a voice in the flames (like Varys) and inwardly, that's what truly haunts him. His "demon", if you would. There's a quote from The Hound, I can't recall it specifically, where he tells someone that they don't know how hot hell really is. That aroused my suspicions about something more having happened during Gregor's attack. I was hoping the show would've addressed this after The Hound accurately interpreted a fire vision, like maybe a multifaceted scene where we see The Hound reading the flames from Thoros and Beric's perspective where they hear the flames crackling, then from The Hound's perspective where the hissing flames is actually a voice speaking to him, to be followed later w/a confession to Thoros about hearing the flames speak as a child, but no😪.
@alanpennie80135 жыл бұрын

Another great video! Just a point about the Lhazareen and Dothraki and how they might view sleeping with demons. When the witches originally danced and slept with demons they were originally based on nature spirits (specifically of the gods Pan/Dionysus/Bacchus) and this is where the classic form of Satan comes from and this changed a witch from a woman closely related to nature and therefore frightening in their power but linked to nature, under Christianity this changed to someone who appealed to a 'false god' and therefore someone to be persecuted. Christian theology also disagrees with the use of sex to gain power. Often traditional witches would work in traditional medicine and midwifery (like Mirri Maz Dur) and this could mean the Dothraki fear Mirri's demons not as an evil force as such but as a strong natural one, that can allow an old sheep woman to be on a par with or even more powerful than them Equally, like the Others and ice, the demons of Valyria may be nature demons of fire. Not malevolent but neutral and still incompatible with life The humans of ASOIAF may also contain within them demons that are primal natural spirits. The characters either control these demons or let the demons control them. It could be that magic is linked to demons and that the more powerful someone is magically the more demons they invite into them (like traditional witches but in a less sexual, more metaphorical way). This might explain why Bran has to be continually reminded to not spend so much time in Summer, there is a difference between his basic wants: feeling safe, feeling fed (which he can achieve through Summer) and his actual needs: to keep his physical body safe and fed. The more powerful Bran becomes the less he seems to care and the less himself he becomes. This can be seen to a lesser extent in Arya as well. Trading humanity for power

Josephine Winter The closest you might get is an updated translation of the 1001 Arabian nights. It’s unfortunate because there’s a lot in Islamic mythology stories about the prophet, Most of them are in hadith [stories about the prophet and his companions]. In countries like India, Pakistan, Morocco, Iran, Turkey, etc. there are countless folklore stories of local Sufi Saints like Al Khadiir ( The Green Man). Fortunately all of it is still largely untranslated.
