Two things: 1. i love your hair 2. Till "likes" to hurt himself, and he lets others hurt him too, he is a very gentle man, troubled and sensitive... Zoran the director of Mein Teil and Rosenrot, got in trouble with the other members of the band because of his pushing some lines with Till, they are all very protective of their singer. He no longer works with Rammstein, but with Till still, in his other project Lindemann. I'm very late but the location is what's left of a sanatorium that was intended to welcome people suffering with tubercolusis, old timers and other serious illnesses. It was very active during WWII as a it was a place of healing for civilians. A lot of murders are attatched to it, malpractices and apparently suicides. It's a dark place where you wonder if the ghosts of the murdered children and desperate/mentally ill people are with you or not.

The location for this video was the Belitz sanatorium near Berlin (built 1905-1907). This was a neurological clinic for tuberculosis patients in Eastern Germany, which was later used by the Russians as a military base. Today the large site and its buildings are empty and are often used as a filming location for TV and music productions! There were many sanitary facilities in the buildings, including clinical bathrooms that were used by patients. This explains the depression in the ground that can be seen in the video. Greetings from Hamburg!

The place where Rammstein shot the video is called Beelitz-Heilstätten and is close to the town of Beelitz. It was used to cure tuberculosis and during WWI and WWII it was repurposed as military hospital. After GDR collapsed and joined Westgermany it fell in disused and vandalism took place. Also then some dark things happened around it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beelitz#Beelitz-Heilstätten the German article is mir detailed, but I guess the Englisch one will do also. Also the creation of Video took some while and at the first attempt Rammstein was not satisfied with it, they did some time reshoots and all was combined to the official video and the piano version.
@moreach134 жыл бұрын
Beelitz has an even darker history. At the end of WW2 the German army tried to save it from the Russian advance and in the tunnels under it there was an horrific battle. Much killing - in tunnels! It's said to be haunted. Currently under redevelopment, BTW.

Till seems to have scars- looks like there is one in the video across his right pectoral- but those "cuts" are not cuts. A cut ALWAYS has an angry red inflammation and welt around it; basically the body's repair mechanisms as I understand it, the ones in the video does not have these, so they are not real cuts. I have pictures of some of mine for comparison, should you so wish. They are not pretty though.

"Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht, ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht" ("So, my dear kids, i brought you something...") is the slogan the Sandmännchen (old GDR children TV Series that was aired right at 7pm as a bedtimestory). The sandman told little shirt stories/cartoons than blew magic sleeping sand into the childrens eyes which fell asleep immediately, than the outro song appeared. The show was so loved and even aired in Westgermany, while in most cultures the sandman is a faceless demon that kills children i their sleep. The lyrics and the video seem mor to deal with the topic of childabuse in (christian) orphanages.

I know this has nothing to do with your video or with you, but as a translator and interpreter I just feel the urge to write this: The line "I cut it out of my breast" should be changed to "I ripped it out of my chest". "cut out" would be "geschnitten" and "Brust" can mean both "breast" and "chest" but here it's obviously "chest". "and take a look under your bed" should be changed to "take a look under your cover/bed sheets/bedding". "I brought something to you" --> "I brought something for you" "elves"--> "fairies" and the line with "die Augenlider zu erpressen" would be "to blackmail your eyelids" and if you think "well, that sound's weird", in German, it does sound weird too. Well, ethymologically, "erpressen" can mean "to press to death" (smash/squash/squeeze) so it could also mean "squash your eyelids to death" but this is quite far off and most Germans would understand the phrase as "to blackmail your eyelids", which does indeed sound utterly weird. (And it isn't to "squeeze out" your eyelids either, as this would be "Augenlider auszupressen")

As far as I understand, the lyrics of this song are about a German folk story about a demon who bring nightmares to kids. The metal version of music sounds to me like the point of view of the tortured who lived through it, but this version seems to me made from the point of view of the demon, the torturer, who has no choice but carrying a task he can't stand. I might be wrong but these are the vibes I get from the two different versions of this song.

Great reaction! I love that you look up the meaning/lyrics before the reaction, because for the depth of their songs to be lost would be a shame. This is a beautiful song in both versions, but I always think this one seems so much sadder, probably because of Tills sad smiles and shiny, big eyes that just seem to pull you into this melancholy (I don't really agree on the creepiness, maybe because the OG Version takes that place for me, it has pretty powerfull visuals in connection to the lyrics ;D) and because he just fades away at the end T.T On another note, your pronounciation of German is really good👍all the best for your studies of the language!
