Holidays for many, are a time of joy and laughter and family and loved ones. Good food, good times…
But not for everyone…in fact for many, according to verywellmind.com, part of why holidays feel more lonely for many people is that our society has high expectations for this time of year. The absence of a romantic partner or a close family seems magnified during this busy time when we’re all supposed to be going to parties, exchanging gifts, and enjoying jolly feelings with loved ones.
On top of this, according to Citizen Digital,
Sixty-six percent of people report feeling lonely during the holidays, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, while 64% of people with mental illness say that the holidays make their condition worse.
And so, just like many of us have so much to be grateful for and celebrate this holiday season, and with our loved ones too, let’s take a moment to think about, reach out to, pray for or hold space for those who might be struggling. In this video, I share ways in which we can try do so.
Merry, #MerryChristmas, folks. God bless 🙏🏾
