The Bean was hilarious. That pillow would not cooperate with her. I love the James Herriot book. That is the version I first read in the late 70s. I have the box set now, but in a newer version.

The current rendition of All Creatures Great and Small is absolutely charming. I think it is into the 4th season now🤔 I also watched the original and loved it, but this new production is Amazing.

My first time watching you (thanks to a link by Gina Stayner) and I just love this video. We used to live in the Boston area and I miss it so much, not least of all the Brattle Bookshop! Fascinating discussion of David Irving. Also, that Murder Omnibus looks like it will be a lot of fun. Expensive online, so I think you found a treasure there, especially if it came from the sale lot.

Jane Langton writes cozy mysteries. I met her years ago at a cozy mystery conference called “Malice Domestic” which is devoted to the cozy mystery genre.

The actress on the cover of the Belloc Lowndes omnibus looks like Elizabeth Allan. She starred in the 1932 version of The Lodger, which matches up time wise as the omnibus was published in 1935. It is an incredible find.

Milton Glaser did the stunningly beautiful covers for the Signet Classic Shakespeare series. I have most of the volumes. I also have a one volume hardcover complete Signet Classic Shakespeare published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. I prefer the paperbacks.

Steve, such a good book haul--so many great books. That Margaret Wood's The English Medieval House is a real find. The illustrations are great and that is a period that is very interesting. I agree with you about Churchill, he lived an amazing life. The film from the 1970's- I think it came out around 1975- called Young Winston covered his early years and Simon Ward portrayed him wonderfully. Anne Bancroft portrayed his mother the fascinating Jenny Jerome, Lady Randolph Churchill.

"The Lodger" by Marie Belloc Lowndes was adapted into Alfred Hitchcock's first thriller (3rd film) "The Lodger: A story of the London Fog" (1927). Later adapted into various radio and other films as well as becoming an opera. She also wrote a biog of "Prince of Wales" Eddy VII which may be of interest to you, Steve.
