Great tutorial. I’m going to be spraying a 1/25 Peterbuilt big rig in metallic and I had no idea where to start. This helped immensely with type of paint/primer and thinners. I had no idea there was a hardener available. Or is it just for the paint you used? I will look into it. Thank you for all your help. 👍👍

Have you tried Mr Hobby Rapid Thinner with metallics on car bodies? Paul Bretland @InternationalScaleModeller does some of the best model car paint jobs on the 'Tube and he always uses the faster drying thinner for metallic paint jobs but he also 2K clears everything. The faster drying may reduce your pull back on the edges. If you don't want to clear, maybe a few light tack coats with the rapid thinner followed by a wet levelling coat. Not speaking from experience... just throwing out ideas. Great choice on Mustang for the group build... coming from a totally unbiased, hard core Ford guy!

I have thought about getting some to try. I am doing a order today will see if they have any and try it out. Yes he does some amazing work, I haven't watched any videos' lately on his work, will have to go back for a re-visit. Thanks Allan!

Kreg, recent subscriber. Great channel. Just rebinged your Bronco videos. Doing the research thingy. That airbrush problem, sure sounds like a packing washer has either failed or just needs a bit of a tweak. I bet’cha one round on that one. If it needs replacing, whether you can find one for an off brand like that is anyone’s guess. I’d be willing to take a look at it.

Great video Kreg. I'm asking because i want to build this kit again, and want to do a better job. I was going to cut the trunk plug out on my next one because i thought thats why i had a fitment issue gluing the trunk on top of it? Also my rear tail panel didn't fit well. I assumed because i left the truck plug in place. Since you've built the kit before, I assume it was just me lol. I'm curious why you dont glue the nose and rear panel in place before paint? If i dont, what glue do you use to attach after paint? Sorry for the questions but i want to step up my game on this one.
@kregskorner88516 күн бұрын
The last kit I had built I cut the trunk out and was hard to keep it in place, to be honest with you I have never left it in. I might have to cut the back edge off once assembling. I will bee doing a build video on the fit coming up. I was going to glue the parts on first, sometimes I like the panel line gap from the paint, plus last time I did not use the lacquer and didn't want the paint line if it didn't fill. To add the bumpers I will show in the next video, I add small flat styrene pieces to the insides of the fenders sticking out, using them as a guild and for CA glue.

Kreg have you ever done a “flip-flop" style of paint job from the 70's on a model kit
@kregskorner88516 күн бұрын
Right, lacquer was king in those days, was big money to shoot enamels. I look at it as a modern day restoration lol..

Hey Kreg. Do you have a shop in Metro Detroit where you find MCW paint? I've tried Nankin when I was in the area, but they didn't have it. This weekend, I'm heading to Akron for a show, so I was thinking about diverting a bit along the way to shops in Detroit on my return trip. Last time I was in Michigan, I went to where a model and train shop I knew of on Rochester Road, near Rochester used to be ...... but when I got there the building is now a tattoo parlor. Not the kind of paint I wanted. 😉 Also, do you have contact info for the Detroit show? No contact info shows on the flyer. I have a friend who will attend the upcoming Fall show who tears down, modifies and rebuilds diecast models. He wonders if he can display his work in Detroit, if it's not plastic. He doesn't care if it gets judged.
@tonybuglione351611 күн бұрын
Prop Shop Hobbies on Van Dyke in Warren, Michigan carries MCW paints. Yes, your friend can display his modified die cast models. Our fall show is an NNL show( non judged).BTW, Ray , some of us from the D.A.A.M. club will be in Akron for that show. We'll be wearing our club shirts so look for us, say hello, and we can answer any other questions you may have about our show.See you there.
