They fill out the next month’s week because it’s still part of the numbered week in a calendar year. You don’t have to write in it but for people who really want the week number of the year it probably helps to have all the days of that week within that space. Also, the monthly pages listing the week number then gives a reference to the weekly two pages that correlate to that time. Great comparison video! Your son and my daughter are so similar. She came home during her first semester in college and asked for a planner. I happened to have gotten an undated SI planner that I hadn’t used yet so I gave it to her. It’s fun to see your child embrace the idea of writing their stuff on paper. 😊

@@sherbidabbles Wow. That’s terrific that your son is trying something that is an impactful part of your life. I hope he sticks with it and develops a love for it too. I’m working on my kids. My daughter is the only one to ask me for a planner but it’s unclear how much she uses it. Maybe I can keep dreaming of a day when she realizes how valuable handwriting something is…🤷🏻♀️ I think my sons are not interested at all. Time will tell. I’ve found that having the right paper and feel of the notebook/planner makes a huge difference in how much I want to be in it. You’ve talked about my two favorites, Hobo and SI. 💕

Catherine has Weeks N2, Travelers Notebook N1, A6, B6, and A5 sizes and others. She offers both Horizontal and Vertical layouts. If you get the full year and not the compact, you get 300+ numbered pages in the back to use as you please. So this might be a good option for thinking out your 2nd book.

11:58 Week numbers are useful for long term projects, goals, and interational logistics/planning. As far as I understand it, it's more of a thing in other countries, especially parts of Europe, and the week numbers can be found on their calendars. Denmark use week numbers a whole lot, and even use it for holiday weeks if I remember correctly. For the US though, I do not remember seeing any planner with a week number until I got a pdf planner for my e-ink device. As someone who plans by weeks, the week numbers are helpful in the long term goals that don't have a concrete day of that week. Take week 36, it tends to land around the first week of Sept, sometimes the last couple days of August every 5 years or so. I could say the first week of September (tend to do it for people who do not know week numbers), but for me I mark it down as a turning point from late summer to fall for my weekly future planning in the years to come (and since it lands on the same week number year after year, I do not have to explain the date range like the first full week of September or last partial week of August). Cannot really say if it can help you personally though, you may want to look up some other use cases online if you are interested, but if you have a system that works for you, no need to shake the boat. I say definitely give it a look if you primarily structure your planning around weeks instead of months or days.

Thank you!!! This makes me think of a good way to do trackers. Could lay them out by week with each day of the week at top. Maybe each day has a few things to track. On the left column, use the week number. 52 lines and voila! A year-long tracker on one page! It would be super fascinating to use a tracker like that for several years and see what things may happen over the same weeks, year after year. Thanks for this explanation. I appreciate it.

I just subscribed! I loved this video and am very interested in seeing future videos of how you are using this planner. I just purchased the same planner, the H2 compact. I have previously used the hobonichi weeks for years and am giving this a try! Not sure about the cover, I am used to a hard cover, but not a deal breaker. Looking thru it, I do like the weekly portion having more space, and even the monthly calendars have a tiny bit more space in the days. Im going to give it a chance and see if I think I will stick with it, or switch back to the hobonichi. Thanks for comparing the 2 in a video!

I have the vertical in both the N1 & N2 for SI. It is extremely easy to create a horizontal layout in these! I absolutely love that I leave a small section on the top for appointments but the rest can be divided easily into horizontal boxes, or squares similar to the HP dashboard. I really like to keep a clear cover from Lauren Phelps on my SI, gives some storage place to me but I also love using a cover like Moterm or from WHP, especially for the planners that I use at work

Clear covers are my preference- I think. So I’m writing your recommendation down. Thank you!

As a lover of paper and fabrics, essentially textiles, it made me smile when you showed the fabric of your dress! I can so relate!😊. I also prefer that the weekly section in the horizontal is graph as well. I don’t hate the quotes in Hobonichi (even though many don’t translate well) but they rob me of space, especially in the weeks size.

Are the pages of the Common Planner a bit bigger than the weeks (not the cover, the pages). I'm curious to know the measurements of each.
@sherbidabbles2 ай бұрын
The pages themselves are pretty much the same size. However, the layout provides more usable space in the common planner. Smaller outside margins, no quotes, etc. I hope that helps!

I've been using the B6 since the planner launched, and it's my perfect size. Initially I ordered the B6 horizontal for this year, but I do like using the vertical weeks to track what I did that day (retrospective entries), so I may switch to vertical. As for covers, I'm treating myself to a VDS cover for my birthday (in December). I also ordered a less fancy one from Etsy. This year I just have their clear cover on it, and sometimes I cut some of their vellum and layer that on. On my work planner, I stuck a sticker on it with removable glue tape and put a cover over it
@sherbidabbles3 ай бұрын
I’m going to get the B6 as a writing notebook/planner for 2025. Of course I want the Mulberry one and may embrace my impatience and get an imperfect one. From what I have read and seen, people are hard-pressed to find the imperfection. As for covers - still thinking I’ll let them wear and see how they do. That will give me a good foundational idea for 2026. Inside might be plastered with stickers though. 👀
@morganwentworth20413 ай бұрын
@@sherbidabbles I couldn't tell you which SI notebooks and planners I have that were "imperfect." I say go for it. Plastering the inside with stickers is SO satisfying. I've been accumulating stickers for my 2025 planners and notebooks all year

I prefer the SI much better. I use the annual calendar to keep track of birthdays. The lack of quotas and the other extras in Hobonichi planners allow so much more usable space. I love to insert quotes that I happen upon and as an SLP love writing definitions and word origins - I can use the space for what I want
