A STIL truncation (Val1219X) resists proteasomal degradation at mitotic exit.

Wild-type STIL (A) is degraded at mitotic exit via a KEN box that is recognized by the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C). A mutated version of STIL (Val1219X) lacks the KEN box, therefore resists APC/C --mediated degradation.
Wild-typ STIL (A) wird am Ende der Mitose über ein Aminosäuresignal (KEN Box) abgebaut. Eine Mutation in STIL, die zu einer neuronalen Entwicklungskrankheit (Primäre Mikrozephalie) führt, entfernt die KEN Box. Folglich wird der Abbau des Proteins dadurch verhindert.
