How nice would it be to only have a 40 day election cycle?! Thank you for taking the time to explain. I love learning about other countries. Good luck finding a cross stitch shop in Berlin.

Always fun and interesting to catch up with you Ingeborg. Really fascinating to hear about the Dutch electoral systems - many similarities with the U.K. set up but some interesting differences too. I look forward to hearing about your Berlin trip as we had a trip booked which was cancelled at the beginning of the pandemic and we hope to get there next year. Happy stitching!

Hi Ingeborg! Another fascinating video. (I think the word is “roasting” coffee...) I really like the Japanese Maiden design. It is a pretty accurate reproduction of a bride in a traditional red wedding gown and head covering (as opposed to the loose interpretation of Geisha costume seen in many designs...). We have a lot of counterfeit cross stitch designs and kits from Chinese manufacturers here too... I am not able to explain in length about the voting system in Japan but was able to look up about the ppl who are not allowed to vote. The law in Japan prohibits voting for those who are Sente to imprisonment, starting from the day of sentencing to the day the prison term (or probation term, if any) is completed. There were no disqualification clauses for disability. FYI the legally adult age in Japan is 20 years old, for drinking alcohol to smoking cigarettes. Voting and driving is allowed from 18, and marriage is allowed at 18 for males and 16 for females but expected to change in 2022 to 18 for both genders...

Hi Saho, thanks for the info! Interesting to learn how things are done in Japan. The legal age for marriage in particular caught my eye as you can imagine. Hope you are well x

Your Dutch facts are always interesting. I wish we had a limited campaign season in the US! Here are a couple Dutch American facts for you (which perhaps you already know, but if not, you might find them interesting): New York City was first called New Amsterdam because it was a Dutch settlement. The 8th US president, Martin Van Buren, spoke English as a second language - his first language was Dutch. There's a county in Michigan named after him, though he wasn't from there. I enjoyed your book reviews and as always, your stitching is lovely. Hope you can get rid of the migraines, which always sound horrible. (Also, maybe you were thinking of roasting coffee?)
@AStitchTooFar3 жыл бұрын
thanks for the info! Did you know that our King uses the alias 'van Buren' when he wants to be incognito? It's because one of his titles is count of Buren (which is a town in the middle of the Netherlands). As far as I can find there is no family connection with the US president though. And yes I know about New Amsterdam, a lot of burroughs still have names that came from Dutch names (such as Harlem, Bronx, Flushing, Wallstreet, staten island, coney island). Always fun to learn right?
@cbreadsandstitches38903 жыл бұрын
@@AStitchTooFar I didn't know that about your king - thanks! Yes, I think learning something new is great fun.

Veel plezier in Berlijn! Ik kan je helaas geen tips geven. Groetjes, Evelien
