Educational fact : Day 18 Volibear edition part 2 Polar bear's liver if consumed is toxic, potentially lethal to humans, but why? Even though less than 2% of their hunts being successfull, polar bears are still top carnivores! So when sea weed produces vitamin A, this vitamin A goes up the food chain all the way to polar bears, this phenomenon is called bioaccumulation, but this vitamine is not water solubile and it's difficut to expell, so instead polar bears (and many marine animals) store it in the liver! The recommended daily allowance (RDA) for vitamin A in humans is 0.9mg, and you can get that from eating just one-tenth of a gram of the liver from a well-fed polar bear. The entire liver contains enough vitamin A to kill as many as 52 adults! If you spread it out and ate just enough to get your RDA every day, that liver would last you 143 years!

Love the video! Also I wanna comment a little on what you were talking about today (yesterday?) about physics. You were asking "if a black hole came close to the solar system and made all the orbits of the solar system bodies out of whack, would we feel it on earth?" Based on my limited understanding, this is what would happen: 1) Relating to the ROTATION of earth: The earth rotates because it has angular momentum. Angular momentum is conserved unless an outside force acts on an object. Would a black hole entering the solar system change our angular momentum? I don't know, I'd need to do more research for that. If it does, then the earth would change its rotation. Would we feel it? I also don't know the full answer to that question, but the answer is probably "yes, but very little". Google "Do I weigh less on the equator than at the North Pole?" and click the first result for more info; but the gist is, the rotation of Earth DOES affect us. The effect is just _really_ small, about 1% the effect of gravity. 2) Relating to the ORBIT/movement of the earth: we would feel NO change. According to General Relativity, if an object is in "freefall" in a gravitational field, or if it's in empty space with nothing around, the object feels no difference. Without a force acting on an object, an object will prefer to be in freefall. Note that "in freefall" means the same thing as "in orbit". Astronauts in space are in freefall around the earth. The moon is in freefall around the earth. The Earth is in freefall around the sun. If you jump off an airplane, ignoring air resistance, you are in freefall, which also means you are in ORBIT around the center of the earth.... until you hit the earth's surface and now you have an outside force acting on you. If a black hole entered the solar system, the _earth_ would still be in freefall, and nothing changes. Of course, our sky would change and maybe we'd see the accretion disk of the black hole. If the BH gets too close, we might be partially spaghettified and affected by insane tidal forces. The oceans would go WILD. You've seen tides caused by the moon right? Imagine a black hole doing the same thing, if it's close enough.

The accelleration of the "freefall" velocity is cool to think about, so you're saying that let's say i'm an austronaut orbiting a planet, if i accellerate my velocity with let's say a jetpack, i would feel that accelleration because those jets would push against my body, but if that velocity changes because another hypotetical mass appears out of nowhere i wouldn't feel it?
@sagittariusa21459 ай бұрын
@@cangaroojack Actually now I'm doubting my own understanding lol. I think you probably wouldn't feel it if a planet or black hole is slowly moving toward you (except for tidal forces), but maybe it's different if something just appears in the sky? Like this is how I think about it: when the new mass arrives, it bends spacetime such that "freefall" is now a different direction. But I'm not 100% sure you wouldn't notice it. I don't think my understanding is solid enough, and my understanding basically comes from random youtube videos, not a formal education in reletavistic physics. Yeah physics is very complicated lol. To get a full understanding of this you'd probably need to do a lot of research or study a lot.
