I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

Grenn and Pyp are amazing minor characters, along with pretty much every other major peripheral character in Jon’s chapters (i.e., Dolorous Edd, Tormund, Val, The Old Bear, Mance, Ygritte, Aemon, etc.). Out of all the storylines, Jon’s side characters are easily my favorite.

Almost all of the characters in jon and samwell's chapters are great. (Except for chett and craster. Craster is too disgusting for his crimes to be spoken of, and chett is basically a fantasy version of a disgusting filthy redditor.)

I really like how, other than being great characters in their own right, Grenn, Pyp and Jon mirror the three Kings guard at the Tower of Joy.

The chapter were Jon Snow the bastard of Winterfell becomes Lord-Commander Jon Snow. I love this chapter. Also RIP Donal Noye, poor Jon never seems to keep father figures or competent advisors

I've been listening to your videos for a while and you are the best. I feel like I owe you something, I even enrolled in KZbin Premium so I could listen to these while running or walking. Anyway, congratulations on such an amazing job, I am amazed by how spot on the voices are and specially the tone in which you read the thoughts of the POV characters, it is so fitting to each character. I got goosebumps in the last chapter when Ygritte died, man the sentiment you put on that was perfect. Thank you and congratulations. And regarding this chapter, I love the detail of maester Aemon at the end saying "...you are son of Winterfell, and nephew of Benjen Stark..." no lies there, the man knows a thing or two.

It’s amazing how Jon pivots from this chapter onward to allowing the FreeFolk beyond the wall! On this reread listening to his inner dialogue it’s really shocking. In retrospect I thought he began these things differently once he spent time with them,and when he fell for Ygritte!! 💭

Hi love your site- I work in a big building and listen while I work- but I've got to tell you first few times I heard your cats' commentary I was up looking for where the kitty was and had a moment. Theory: 33,57 Maester Aemon says to Jon you are(…) Son of Winterfel(…) He doesn’t say son of Stark. Is it possible that Aemon knew that Jon is not Ned’s son yet he’s of Winterfel ( following the fan theory R+L=J) any thoughts?

I think it's unlikely Maester Aemon knows, since he never indicates that he gets anything more than the same ravens everyone else at the wall gets for news, and more interesting in a literary and thematic sense if Maester Aemon has unknowingly been mentoring and advising the young man who will redeem their house and save humanity (assuming that's what ends up happening lol).

I appreciate so much the work and effort you put into this and I love the way you bring this story and it's characters to life (and occasionally hearing your cat meow) you do better work with far more love for the story than the official audio books my only complaint is I so wish you'd do all my favorite books as well!!!
