I still own the old family farmland homestead in Kansas. Great grandfather got it in the mid 1800's. Buildings are all gone and the land is used for hay and grazing but I'm willing to bet there are some outhouses and garbage pits somewhere.

How I wish I owned land like that. You are very lucky. If It were my property I'd be out there probing and digging right now. 🤠 Go get em! Those bottles are worth quite a bit of money.

@@toadrepublic Always be aware it wasn't very long ago that people were dying from typhoid in wells too near outhouses on the Great Plains. Two members of my family died from that away from home, drinking from wells that weren't their own. Also be aware some diseases were wallpapered over, literally, and lingered to infect those who removed the paper to reuse the old buildings. And then there is tetanus. Wear protective gear and don't dig alone.

When I was a kid, I played on a fenced “Antennae Farm” about 100 acres of towers and wires. Apparently in WW2 it had been an Army Camp and they started building the antennae, then after the war it became civilian. There were tracks between the different antennae but otherwise the 100 acres was let revert to forest. Heaps of animals lived in that forest and once you were through the huge barbed wire boundary fence, it was virtually pristine. My friend and I would ride our bikes the 90 minutes to get there, stash the bikes and crawl under a gap in the fence. One day we found a bunker, a real bunker, it had a steel door and massive lock. After scouting around, we found the bunker had windows, almost at ground level, one window was corroded and with a bit of “encouragement” the wire embedded window opened and we could wiggle inside. It was HUGE, it was more an underground warehouse than bunker. Boxes and boxes stacked 6 box high in some places. The boxes marked with contents. Engine parts, whole engines, rifles, pistols, ammunition in one area. We even found 30 and 50 calibre machine guns! I looked at the Drug Store magazines for items for sale and found prices for the rifles and pistols. It was a gold mine, we would take 3 or 4 home, clean all the gunk of Cosmoline off them and take them to places to sell, rifle ranges being the best, the guys there would pay cash. The rifles had never been fired! We rapidly found they paid more if we left them in the grease proof paper wrapping and didn’t clean them up. I can honestly say those things paid for my friend and I to go to college and, in my case, my Masters and PhD and in his case a car and house deposit.

Keeping the beautiful lineups of your finds is a great finish. Hope the USA and the landowner were appreciative in the amount of hardwork you invested in this historical site.
