My disdain for the lockdown continues to this day.

Kenneth Brown I like being in lock down... to me, it just means that my opponent is on his heals. With pressure and techniques like the one you posted... side/full mount is inevitable
@TheRazorfraser6 жыл бұрын
Lockdown is probably the most successful part of my game. However, thanks for the technique in case I get caught in someone else's lockdown...also something to watch for when I'm playing lockdown :-)

Of all the cool things you can learn and do from half-guard, I don't understand why people choose stalling strategies.
@MyMW3Channel2 жыл бұрын
@@cameronforbes2649 Stalling? It's a gateway to submissions and sweeps to the left and right. Calf slicers, electric chair, arm triangle from bottom. Side control is absolutely a stalling position for the major of people i.e hold and squeeze
@cameronforbes26492 жыл бұрын
@@MyMW3Channel you can get called on stalling in side control for more than 30 seconds. . . While when people go for the lockdown they spend minutes fighting for it, and it's typically the same guy at every gym who's obsessed with it. And passing guard and getting to side control makes more sense as a method of tiring your opponent out, then setting up submissions, after that.

This is one of the best lockdown counters I've seen. I play a lot of lockdown myself. The fact that it gets you straight to mount or quarter (truck country) is fantastic.
@orthopaedicmd7 жыл бұрын
This is amazing! Tried it out tonight and almost got out. Got too excited that it was working that I forgot about pressing the knee down to get to mount. Thanks for this! Definitely adding it to my game.

One of my boys loves to run this, particularly the calf slicer extension. Can’t wait to switch it up on him!
@guam585 жыл бұрын
If you stay lower on his hip you don't have to sacrifice the base leg/foot. You can then just curl the leg that is lockdown and windshield wiper out. Then you can follow the exact steps you have to full mount. The positive of your technique is that you trap them in their own lockdown with the sacrificed leg. The negative is the additional details of staying heavy on overhook side and pressure on hip.

I've tried multiple passes to the lockdown. Even saw one from kurt osiander, I like this one the best

Yeah, it has worked for me like a charm for many years.

Looks really good. Little suggestion though, especially for moves such as this...different color gis will help to distinguish who is who. I found myself squinting a bit. Great technique regardless.

Awesome! I'll give this a shot on Monday, and come back, and let you know how it went. I got stuck in this guy's lockdown multiple times this past Monday, and was trying to do the cross-face pass with no success.

Pause at 3:25. Lockdown user blocks opponents right knee with free left hand, trying to force it back between legs. (At same time) Lockdown user straightens right leg forward and away from lockdown trap (nothing seems to be stopping this leg from moving that way) Shrimp and back to half guard. Am I wrong here? I’m a lowly brand new blue belt. Just asking for clarification!
@KennethBrown6 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting thought. Shrimping at the angle would be difficult with shoulder pressure, though, so I encourage you to experiment with it.

Lotus Lockdown is much more difficult to escape, especially since the opponent would have upper body control.
@TylerTheUke5 жыл бұрын
Nice one man, interesting
@MyMW3Channel2 жыл бұрын
If they don't have upper body control, it's not a true lockdown. But if you can defeat the upper body control, this is a good strategy.

@joe45707 жыл бұрын
yeah no, I caught that lol. I don't know that you would be able to trap that shoulder without gi grips though. Especially since we are all so used to getting up to that elbow from playing normal half guard.

Let’s see the counter in full swing. Also how does this counter fair in NoGi? Where the Lockdown is used more than in Gi.
