Thanks for your appreciation! You can reach Gangotri by taking bus/car from Haridwar. Then you have to trek for 2 days (22 km) to reach Tapovan. You need a permit to enter into Gangotri national park. The trekking route to Tapovan is somewhat difficult, specially after Gaumukh. So you should hire an efficient guide from Gangotri. The guide will also help you to get the permission from the local forest officer. You can also contact our guide, Mr. Akhilesh Semwal (099970 10552). He is highly efficient and honest.

@@SridharBanerjee My sincere thanks to you for your information. l noticed your msg. just now. obviously i' m delayed in reciprocating. I plan to visit Gangotri & Yamunatri coming May. Now its the wish & grace of the Almighty.
