Congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your wee lassie. I predict that for the next few years that the time available to build models will be at a premium, so having said that, any output that you have time to provide will be appreciated. You do what you want and, I for one, will enjoy the content.

Congratulations! I think the key to being a satisfied model maker is to work on kits you really like, don't get hung up on perfection, and have fun! Build them to please yourself and not others.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! She and her mother are top priority now. It was only a blink or two of the eye ago when my son and daughter were born. They’re both in their mid twenties now! So please, savor every moment. Funny, an online retailer here in the States had a Dornier kit languishing on the shelf a few months ago. Now I’ll have to see if it’s still around.

21:22 Fairings 😁 Jason, as you said at one point in the video, mainly what people want is just any content. The reason we've subscribed to you is that we like your style and the subjects you model. So I'm sure most of us would be happy with whatever you find most interesting to yourself. And that goes for both the subjects and the video types too.

Modelling in the 80's and early 90's was fun. Read magazine, buy kit and hope for the best lol. No KZbin or internet equalled go to model shows and hope the modellers were eager to share their tips and tricks. I find the modelling community as whole current time, is massively helpful and genuinely wants to nurture the future generation. 80's everyone kept their tricks to themselves especially during competition times. I foreone love and appreciate the KZbin channels that openly share knowledge, tips and tricks.

Your best creation yet! With regards to the future, being a relative newbie to modelling, I'd love to see videos on techniques for painting and weathering. Not like an everything in half an hour, but video shorts on, oh.....wheels, streaking, rust effects, mud, oil, figures etc etc.

Joyous! Congrats to you and the missus. As a father I can tell you it hits the productivity on the hobby production line but what it does do is make you focus on how you use your time. Prioritise the projects you're really passionate about with your now reduced hobby time. Also concur with the view on the insane level of detail and depth of model projects now. I like getting stuff built and painted to a degree I'm happy with (slay the grey) and incrementally improve my skills. I'd go bannans spending 6 months on a project. You like videos? Do that! I'll keep watching the vids regardless.

Congrats on the child! I have a similar feeling about the social media side of the hobby, but thankfully I am so far happy to build for me, with as much weathering and research as I can be bothered to do. I like sharing photos online, but mostly because I don't have anybody else who is interested in the subject to comment either way in person beyond "oh that's nice". For your content- do what you enjoy. If you enjoy rambling on camera, go for it!

A very interesting chat. First congratulation on the birth of your little one. She was certainly interested in all the stuff in your modelling den which is a really good thing. I think you will find that priorities will change a bit now and getting time for modelling and videos might be more difficult. My son is 31 and I recently spent a day changing the clutch in his car as I didn't want him to pay the telephone number he was quoted to get it changed, so my kids still absorb my time even now. As for video content it is largely what you want to do but personally I like a good synopsis of the complete build and painting, with focus on the quality and accuracy, combined with the standard of engineering of the kit.. Also if you don't build models to put on a shelf what you do that is a different destination for them. I have started building small dioramas using Miniart stuff, stowage and figures. Recently I built a Humvee with some figures stopped at the roadside having a brew.

Hey Jason. Congratulations on the new addition to the family and welcome to sleep depravity! 😮😂 Of course you will be preoccupied and have less time. But for the future (whenever that might be) the videos I’ve really enjoyed and keep going back to are your back-to-basic build videos. Maybe for the foreseeable future it’s not a full-build in one video, but more of a shorter ‘how to’ in stages? Just my 2 cents worth.....

Congratulations on your new addition to the family. Interesting what you say about social media (fb) as I had been wondering whether forums would ever come back. Over seven years back into the hobby and as an armour modeller when I returned I find I build aircraft with WW1 and interwar period as more attractive for me. I build for me and I am sparked off by history via books or KZbin. I also make sure I have days off where I don’t model at all. I also found that cheap, difficult kits provide me with a challenge although I have yet to tackle the vacuform kits in my stash! Hints and tips, occasional obscure kits perhaps and an occasional build video. Good luck.

Congratulations on the Bub. I didn’t find time for modelling for a good 15-20 years after my girls came along. Maybe you are struggling with armour because of the subjects e.g. the Tiger. Have a look at the more obscure vehicles that you don’t see lots of builds of. Maybe that will get your juices flowing again.

Huge congratulations to you and your other half on your wonderful new arrival! I'm probably one of the newer subscribers among your 40k but I've watched back through quite a few of your older videos; I have a couple of thoughts on this one for what it's worth... Firstly, please take it easy on yourself, I doubt any new parents fully appreciate quite how different life will be after the birth, even for a little while after, so I suspect that trying to go back to your prior output soon may not be good for you long term - just friendly advice, but you know you so you do you 😊 Regarding the 'magic' having gone, could that be a combination of having attained a certain level of skill and experience, combined with exhaustion from the effort required to do so, and also from life in general? Lastly, it sounds like you need to make video production as easy as possible for yourself, ie cut down to the absolute essentials to output content you're happy with, combined with just doing modelling stuff you find fun, even if that doesn't involve actually building them! In terms of subjects, I found looking back that most of your older videos I was drawn to watch were on aviation subjects, and I do love something esoteric. But I enjoy some armour subjects, plus I'm interested in many other model prototypes, modelling tools etc plus Warhammer, and if you fancy really draining your wallet, I'd watch all the model railway content you can put out 😅 Actually, no, just don't do that to yourself! In any case, mainly commenting for the algorithm but thought I'd share some thoughts that occurred to me whilst watching. All the best 😊

By the way, everybody's advice is excellent about drinking in every moment with your daughter (especially at this age but also forever!), but I think it's also important for you and your partner to maintain a hobby each if you can as the first few years can be tough on your mental health, as wonderful and delightful as those early years are, it's also blummin hard work!

True true. The first 3-5 years are crucial as they really rely on you. After that they are out in the world. Don't waste those first years. Tiger tanks will still be there. Of course for your own sanity you need a break and hobby but accept it'll take a back seat for a wee bit.

I think there is a lot of pressure on KZbinrs to produce content no matter what it is. I personally like to watch builds & how they're completed either out of the box or with some scratch building. I am an extremely amatuer builder so any hints or tips are appreciated. I don't personally like reviews because the best way of reviewing, i feel, is to build. I watch videos on any build whether i have it in my stash ir not because 1, its enjoyable & 2 because as i said, all tips help. Keep up the very good work, congrats to you & your wife & remember to work at your own comfortable pace.
