Your absolutely right Recky. That was a car or the other thing II could see by the outline of it is a tractor trailer. Just pause it before it get sucked in and look at its shape

I have family in Andover, this tornado was no joke, neither was the footage, and watching the 2022 tornado head for my family once again was TERRIFYING.

I'm from Kansas. Wichita Eagle is originally Wichita's newspaper, and it actually shipped newspapers across the state. I was just a a kid when this happened, and seeing it on the news was mind blowing. Crazy thing is that an F-3 came through Andover in 2022 just a few days after the anniversary of this one. No lives lost in 2022, but some amazing footage.

The Duke Evens footage....... Recky, you chose a VERY GOOD video to react to! 1991 Andover, KS.
@XtomJamesExtra3 ай бұрын
Recky, in the future, try inverting your picture in picture, so you're small and the video you're reacting to is the larger video. Even on my 55" 4k tv, the video you're reacting to is so small that I can't see the debris you're referencing at the 06:41 mark.

Rocky, I just wanted you to know that I am out of town and out of state right now so I’m having to listen to and watch your post on my little tiny phone. But by doing so, I won’t be as far behind when I get back as I am right at the moment. This was quite a video for the timeframe.

Another multivortex, just seems to be the shape they take when they are most violent.I didn't know about Andover, so thank you for sharing, I agree you never get used to these violent storms. I saw the tornado this year that hit Greenfield in Iowa was just confirmed as having the fastest winds ever recorded, 300+ mph. Awful storm.

My dad remembers this Tornado very well. He was working in Dillons at the time, the on off of Harry and Webb I believe, and him and his coworkers were watching it till it stopped moving (which meant it was moving away or towards them) so they're boss told them to get away from the windows and ito the cooler. My dad was 19 at the time.

Great reaction Recky! My cousin was a journalist for the Wichita Eagle for three decades. He remembers this storm clearly. The folks who lived through it are still haunted by the tornado.

Recky I have one for you to watch. It is not a monster tornado, it a small F2 that my television station filmed from a helicopter in 1986. This is the first time that has been done this close. It is film footage that has been studied by scientists all over the world. I was about a half a mile from it. There was no warning. I saw it from my apartment parking lot and ran to get my camera and got a photo before it finally died out. The video title is: Fridley Minnesota Tornado 1986 - KARE 11 Helicopter Live Footage (Full Broadcast). It was fate. The helicopter was on a different story and was caught by surprise! The camera used to film this was a prototype that was brought on a whim. It’s incredible. Most of the damage was to a wooded area and a plant nursery.

Hey recky, love your weather videos. I happened upon a video about this tornado by victorgoat called Wichita- Andover, Kansas 4/26/1991 F5 tornado- synched multicam, it has the tornado from almost the start until near the end. *(edit) it also shows many different viewpoints and gives brief periodic descriptions of where the tornado is, who it’s affecting and how strong it is. It’s a harrowing watch but very informative.

May 1, 1991, I was 21 and driving from Phoenix to Minneapolis. Just past Wichita, from I-35 I remember seeing large piles of former buildings and trees. I had no idea there had been a tornado, but it was obvious to me what I was seeing. Look for footage of the 2022 Andover tornado. It was far less destructive, but amazing because it clearly shows how tornado winds don't blow. They suck everything apart.

Can you imagine being in one of the houses right near that thing? My jaw would drop to the floor! 😱 There’s a documentary about Oklahoma and it’s problem with tornadoes. Again, it’s kinda long, but if you’re interested here’s the title: “Full documentary: Oklahoma: Tornado Target”

There is another video of the Andover F5 as it is crossing across McConnell Air Force Base which is jaw dropping. You should consider checking that video out, it’s one of the best video showing how incredibly violent a tornado can be.
