The decaying paint on earthrise somehow amplifies my love for it. Bleeding red on the ears give it a rusty weathering and the battered bumper reminds the cons hes not pulling the brakes. Like it accelerated what would be years of love and play into just a few weeks. Downside is.. you only have a few weeks to enjoy the paint

I think my ideal G1 Prime would be Earthrise surface detail on a Commander-ish mold like 86, now that I have both. I do kind of miss the WFC trilogy's heavy mechanical textures, even if they weren't a hit with the whole audience.

Had the siege figure for the longest time. So when I got the ss86 figure it was basically perfection. Although I skipped out on the Earthrise version, I got the shattered glass reissue to experience the mold and he is also not bad either.

I replaced my earthrise prime’s right arm with megatron’s for that skybound look. Also SS86 has full turning radius. Automatic S tier.

86 Optimus Prime is the BEST Optimus Prime ever made, BUT the cab/upper body transformation on Earthrise Optimus Prime is WAY better than 86 Optimus Prime's by far💯

Regarding the warped peieces; you can heat up the plastic with a blow dryer, then manually flex them back into shape. Afterwards, just put them in the fridge/freezer and they should be good to go

Am I the only one who prefers to store Earthrise Primes ion blaster on the back of the cab rather than under the trailer? It fills the gap on the back of the cab nicely (a pet peeve of mine with modern Optimus design) and gives the cab an air filter which some big rigs had in real life. Even studio Prime suffers from the gap in the back of the cab problem.

the transformation was the make or break moment for me, I had initially pre-ordered 86 despite my reservations about the design (he seems oddly... bulky in some areas to me, but more importantly I don't like "toon-accurate" designs, I don't like the lack of detail found on them, especially in 86 Prime's case where he doesn't have wheels on the sides of his legs, I like wheels on the sides of the legs), but when I saw the transformation that's what lead me to cancel my pre-order, I didn't like how much it was, and I really didn't like all the nonsense that went in to hiding Optimus' wheels in robot mode

For me, SS is too expensive but also too big to scale with other figures, especially Legacy Elita-1. I also like the details on Earthrise, which make it more realistic, in my opinion. SS seems too plain, plus the large backpack.

When i was anticipating 86's gettification, i was like "oh boy its gonna be boring toon style and drop some of my favorite details" but the toy looks so good and clean with it, it feels like the hidden wheels are naturally built into the transformation, the transformation is not excessive at all (when done in the correct order, wich does exist), and the back actually has some extra detailing as a subtle nod to classic mp's doing the same. Yeah, pretty much all of that "toon blandness" is sent to the front view and the front alone. Also: the trailer is almost perfect (the peg is 4mm instead of 5 and the drone cant stick out the roof), the transformation is, once again, not a slog, and the toy just looks so pretty with the glossy plastic and the opague windows that dont look cheap despite what hasbro once said (wow whodve thunken that not using the single cheapest looking color will make it not look cheap). Remember, i was also bored by the stock photography that advertised a thing to sit on a shelf and look exactly like the shoestring budget 80s cartoon, but then I got the toy and none of that was true. Good luck on hunting down the thing now that your preorders are cancelled even though hasbro has not ever made a bad commander class. One more benefit is that the stripe tooling actually continues around the entire toy uninterrupted when earthrise showed us that that is apparently somehow impossible, so you can easily just grab a sharpie and paint the stripe silver if its nonexistance is that much of an issue.

er is like mp10 with the wider windows instead of just squared, long legs, striped on the arms and truck, and yeah that's about it but tbh yea I did get mp10 even after mp44 was released since idrc ab toon accuracy and same happened for er earlier this year (oh yeah funnily enough ss86 has a more mp10 feeling head sculpt than even earthrise so I'm kinda a hypocrite for that ig) 6:26 they're actually for when you open the combat deck so it doesn't bow down like earthrise

I do like SS86 Prime, but there are more than a few qualms that keep him from being my favorite over Earthrise Optimus: • The plain gray face, while generally accurate, looks very flat when most figures have that signature Hasbro/Takara silver used on their face. Even SS86 Bee does this, and it throws Prime off imo, especially when they used that silver for his truck details! • I’ve mostly gotten used to the backpack 86 Prime has, but the transformation is more complex than I’d like. It’s impressive in some ways, sure. But the complexity means I’m not gonna be transforming it all that often. I can pick up Earthrise Prime and transform him in seconds, and he doesn’t have a backpack at all; yeah he has those wheels, but imo they’re positioned more on his lower back/kidney area than on his butt. • SS86 Prime’s Matrix is so small since they used the same mold they’ve been using since Earthrise. It looks more like a souvenir trinket in his hands, and it’s tiny when fitted into his chest. And naturally, ER Prime uses it well enough; it looks good in his chest, and he can even hold it (mostly) right if you find the patience. Of course, 86 Prime has an incredible trailer, hands down better than the ER one. But the robot itself doesn’t hit the same marks that ER Prime did.

I do appreciate that it doesn't flop around, it holds together in place quite well and doesn't get in the way of articulation. And fair enough, his transformation isn't hard. And there are little things about the process that I do like: his elbows bend backwards, but still do the signature Optimus tuck into the sides. However, it's not too likely that I'm going to pick up 86 Prime as something to fiddle with.

The annoying thing for both SS86-31 Optimus Prime AND SS86-21 Ultra Magnus before him is that if somebody would've paid attention, they could've used the Matrix mold from Legacy G2 Universe Laser Optimus Prime, which is also a completely different mold from the Earthrise. (Legacy G2 Laser Optimus: 2022, SS86-21: 2023, SS86-31: 2024. No excuses there.) But, Hasbruh couldn't even get Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus right, so I guess gettin' this right was even more beyond their intellectual capacity. (What they put out as SG Magnus, the repaint of Kingdom Ultra Magnus, was basically Delta Magnus w/Magna Convoy; the *REAL* SG Ultra Magnus was supposed to be a repaint of the Laser Optimus mold...then again, the whole Shattered Glass II toyline got a lot of peeps flat out WRONG)

I don't have SS86 Prime, but I do have the Netflix Earthrise Prime. And of course I can't completely say, but from multiple reviews, I still like Earthrise more; SS86 Prime is supposed to be toon accurate, but that backpack and the head sculpt puts me completely off when something like Magic Square exists, although I can understand SS86 Prime's appeal for scale. And the price for SS86 is just too much for me. But this opinion is coming from someone who doesn't really collect G1 inspired figures, so I don't care about scale, and so I'll probably pick up the legends scale Magic Square Prime.

I think, having watched your transformation of SS86, your problem with it is your order of operations. You kinda seem to manhandle it? I'm not exactly sure how to explain it without doing an in-depth description or a video of my own, but if you do it in the right order then it's really fun. You seem to shove parts against each other and that's not something you actually have to do at any step of the process.

I have an SS86 in my Pile of Loot at BBTS but I'm regretting having bought it now. The head not being accurate to the movie, the lack of a double-jointed elbow, no side skirts, and that horrible backpack are disappointing. And he's too tall. Was he really that much bigger than the car bots? I'm pretty sure that they didn't want to make him better as they wouldn't have room for improvement later when they make an MP SS version. I have the ER one and I'd much rather have him displayed with the rest of the Autobots in my collection.

Am gonna be honest… I don’t get the hype for earth rise Optimus AM SORRY. He’s just a downgrade to siege. His head is clearly the same from siege but the only difference is he doesn’t have paint. The trailer is a bad reason to make this voyager a leader mainly because the trailer is CHEAP. His legs doesn’t do anything in the transformation. If you need a Optimus that is in a budget and can’t find 86 I suggest siege he’s fun to play and transforming it is amazing and poses well. He’s around 30 dollars in Amazon (at least in America).
