Btw Aron took more than 2 hours of his time to show me the museum free of charge. I figured the least I could do is leave his contact info here so you can go visit Aron and see the museum for yourself. +1 917-902-6950 Not only am I thankful for his time and dedication to this project, but I also am inspired by how passionate and proud he is of his people and culture. P.S - if you’re a high roller please surprise Aron with a nice little donation or at least make sure you know what Karl Marx looks like …

So interesting! I spent time in Queens and used to see the thriving Bukharian community there. I never really understood it. This video really shed some light on that. Thanks!

It is really nice to see our Uzbekistani jews around the world. And its also nice to see that you have preserved our culture, like a traditional musics, dance, fashion. Moreover they're weddings also the same as ours, which is fascinating . In my childhood, my parents told me that many Jews also lived in Margilan and Ferghana(uzbek cities)but after independence, every single one left for America and Israel.

Very interesting video. I live in NYC, so I want to go to Queens to check-out these restaurants. What was the name of the pretty restaurant that was closed? The samsa at the 1st restaurant looked incredible. You did not mention which soup you liked better between the 2 restaurants. It was very special he gave you a kippah from the gorgeous collection.

Current Uzbekistan is right in the center of Central Asia, this is the place where great Muslim empires such as Seljuqis, Temurids, Boburids, Shaibanids took their begining. It was called Muwarannahr and lately Turkistan. Most of the territory was conquered by russian Tsar Army and integrated into russian empire during last 200 years. After the collapse of Soviet Union all Central Asian republics got independence including Uzbekistan

I'm learning Yiddish now and focused on Yiddish more. Just for myself. For pleasure. Because obviously my relatives back in the days spoke Yiddish, living in Eastern Europe. And I don't care if Yiddish is not popular or not useful nowadays. I bought an old Yiddish grammar book published in 1984 in Moscow and also the only existing Russian Yiddish dictionary on a web marketplace. Such a rare books! Real treasure. Just saying. But Boris speaks very nice Hebrew anyway.

Thank you Shawn, please tell us more about how you know better than a Bukharan Jew who was born and raised in Uzbekistan and still visits it often.

@@Katyusha666 My whole Bukharian family that came from Uzbekistan told me story after story about how badly they were treated by their Muslim neighbors growing up. The muslim kids threw rocks at them, beat them up when they were alone, while their parents hissed insults at the Jewish families. All for the crime of being Jewish and the minority in the region. The only mutual thing they shared was that both Muslims and Jews disliked the USSR for suppressing their religion.
