June’s HIV+ Eatery, presented by RBC is a 3-night dining experience where traditionally the meal is prepared by people living with HIV. In 2021, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, dinner was prepared by Fidel Gastro's and delivered as a heat-and-eat meal to enjoy at home.
Guests joined a virtual cocktail hour and heard about the experiences and impacts of stigma from the HIV+ chefs in conversation with Casey House CEO Joanne Simons. An instructional video about the meal followed.
For many people living with HIV/AIDS, it’s the stigma that hurts the most. June’s HIV+ Eatery is an opportunity to fight stigma with every bite. To come together in a show of love, support and acceptance, and to dispel the myths about HIV that condemn so many to suffer in silence.
