Actually, I don’t think it is only good for that. It definitely doesn’t work for every situation, bur it works when you’re trying to memorize a bunch of things in the same category. We had over 50 trig identities to memorize, and a lot of them were easy, but some like tan2X=2tan(X)/(1-tan^2(X) are harder. I’ve memorized the license plates of every teacher I’ve had since the 2nd grade and can still recite them all. My mind palace is the Chuck E. Cheese tubes and I hung them all up on notebook paper around the tubes, and then I’d search for them. My dad is a genius, 160+ IQ, and his mind palace is himself trapped inside a room with a bunch of books, and then he has to search through the books to find his answer.

(He speaks English, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese although he can’t write Kanji or Hangul). He’s been to every Civil War Battle site and can recite who was the general leading each side in each battle. He also got a job at microsoft as a programmer with no college degree because of how good he was. My IQ is nowhere close to 160 lol.

Mine actually works with a place I’m unfamiliar with. If you’ve ever seen the show Psych, my parents raised me like that. When I was 4, my dad had a 20-page book with 10 unique ghosts on each page, and then at the end he’d close the book and ask me “Where was the ghost with the hat on page 4?” So I’d have to memorize the placement of 200 ghosts. I actually notice too much now so I get distracted when I put the objects on a path I’m familiar with, because in my mind, it has to look exactly the same so room numbers, matching floor tiles, paintings, etc. have to be there or it just doesn’t work and seems like an unfamiliar space. My current mind palace is those tubes in Chuck E. Cheese. Before that, it was the Backrooms. Liminal spaces with little detail actually help me focus on the main point more, because there isn’t much to get wrong. I’m mentally crawling around the Chuck E. Cheese Tubes in my mind palace during every physics test lol

Yeah, this truly works. This is one of the most famous technique called "Memory palace or Mind Palace" It is way easier than just mugging up things, It takes usually 2 to 3 hours to make its way to ur memory, but believe me u don't even have to memorize it afterwards every now and then. It's stored for longer time period precisely!

Guys, The Loci Method is the most reliable technique when memorizing LARGER QUANTITIES like a Rubik's Cube (Doing it blindfolded) , Large lists, Large set of numbers. For example: when trying to memorize large set of numbers... I will make up letters to into specific numbers like 1 = O 2 = T 3 = R 4=A 5=B and so on. and then, I will make words out of the letters, specifically objects/animals that I can visualize easily. Then, I would imagine any background that I am most familiarized with, like my bedroom or living room. And then I would put the objects I just made up in there and now it's easier to memorize said numbers 342245 will become RATTAB so I would Imagine a rat playing with his TABlet. Basically, its like visuallizing a story

Fun fact: In speedcubing, there’s a category known as blind solving. This happens to be the exact method of solving a cube blindfolded. Each piece is represented as a letter, and you put the letters together to make multiple two-letter combinations. Beforehand, you also memorize a certain word for each set of two letters. When you memorize the letters, you remember each word. When u begin solving, you go back through the words which act ad instructions on how to solve the cube.

Omg the memory palace🤩 we learned this technique during a coaching session for students who want to teach other students and we used it to memorize the US Presidents. Still remember it to this day. The crazier you make it the easier it is to remember, also associate it with items that are already within the room or area you're going to "walk" through. For example back then the last item was a diamond painting so the association was a diamond painting of Donald Duck playing a trumpet. Or for Roosevelt a field of roses. Used it for some tests later on too. Quite efficient

I know this is similar to what memory trainers do to remember things, and pro quizzers and such, but that always felt like a lotta work. A simple and easy version is if you want to remember some task you need to do later, think of it and move some object in your house out of place, or on your phone home screen or whatever, then when you see it out of place, and think why, you may remember the thing you wanted to remember
