The last house I lived in had lights outside the bathroom, far FAR too many times someone would be in there and me or one of my parents would turn off the light to save energy thinking someone left it on and all you'd hear is just "HEY!" lmfao. New place has them inside though!

I believe this game is based on Hitori Kakurenbo (hide and seek by yourself). You perform a very creepy ritual on a stuffed toy or doll (such as drowning it, stuffing it with nail clippings and rice, sewing it up with red thread). It comes to life and you have to hide or it will kill you.

I wish I could have told him so many things he kept doing wrong. You do all the preparations before 3 AM. Then, you “hide” in a room with a candle. The candle went out on his second attempt. You can’t leave it, or stand in the dark for too long.

I don't think I've seen anyone metntion it, but this is actually based on an old instructional creepy pasta of sorts, I think. There were some weird variations to it, like having to replace a plush's stuffing with rice.

oh I know the inspiration of this game is from the Japaneses game call ' One person hide and seek ' . It's really creepy game that only for 1 person player and 1 ghost. Usually use any plushy for allowed ghost use them as their body them give them holding some sharp thing like needle or knife and the player have to hiding until 5AM . the rule is very similar this but instead of light the candle they use a cup of salt water for protect the player from the ghost.

I feel like it makes more sense to have a light switch on the outside of the bathroom, that way you don’t have to walk into a dark room and dont have to stand in the dark for a second when you leave, its light when you go and and light when you go out.

Regarding the lights outside the room, it's only with bathrooms. It used to be that if the bathroom was occupied, a red light on the switch would be seen.

This game does a lot of nice things to avoid tedious unnecessary repetition, which many other games could learn from, like: Telling you why you died, each time Finding items, like lighter fluid, perminantly unlocks it for future attempts Certain progress is saved, to make future attempts slightly less annoying

Ah, horror engine. Its an excellent plugin for UE4/5 that comes with lots of preprogrammed stuff for making horror games including things like lighters, flashlights, and item menu, locked door mechanics and basic enemy tracking. You can tell its horror engine because this dev kept the default inventory screen
