Sometimes, an actor so inhabits a character they are portraying that we, the audience, viscerally understand the performance is more than acting. For sure that’s what I felt watching SamYU in this series. I don’t think I will ever forget the extraordinary 8 minute scene from Ep.2 in Series 2 when Sam Lin emotionally stripped himself naked, forgetting everything around him except Shu YI and how totally his world depended on bringing this man back into his life and his arms. He forsook both pride and shame to win Shu Yi back; it was and will remain one of the great performances of this new BL age. YU was the perfect partner in this scene, by his finely judged under-playing opposite Sam.

Well said. Yes, that whole scene right from Sam's "Hi" to when Shu Yi's wall crumbled just took my breath away and I have yet to see another that has been portrayed better. The unspeakable frustration, longing, regret, anger, yet underlying everything, the deep love between them, was truly so masterfully portrayed.

@@zainabmejja9936 I suspect the director left the cameras rolling and let the action play itself out; the actors knew what the scene was about and what was needed and they performed it as they felt it. There's one moment when Sam looked as if he was expecting a "Cut" call; otherwise, there are very few cuts, meaning they stopped and started only 2 or 3 times, I reckon.

But what bothers me a lil is most of us consider this one of the finest moments of bl era... But y? This is a stellar story acting wise story wise character wise screenplay wise... Without the bl categorization also this stands out on its own merit.

I am really amazed on how Sam and Yu really understand where their respective characters are coming from. Like they really internalized the situations the characters are experiencing, the emotions that Shi De and Shu Yi were feeling, and how would the two characters react. Sam and Yu really gave them life and their story was portrayed beautifully. Kudos also to the other actors of the series and how they portrayed their own characters. This series really has a place in my heart.

That is how dangerous method acting is. Some actors took months or even years to come out of their characters. relationships were broken, family's ignored, even some lost their lives. I didn't follow their works after WBL ended but what I understand is Sam applied this method for this project. There are some highly experienced actors who actually choose when to use this method. But in Sam's case, he didn't choose. It grew along the way while they were filming and had become the nature of his acting skill. Like he said, at some point, he was no longer thinking of what GSD would do, but rather thought about what he would do. Due to the lack of range of experiences he had before WBL, imagine how shocked he was when he found out that he had become one with GSD, and how painful it must be for him to not be able to see Yu everyday after they wrapped up the promotion. It was 10 years worth of pursuit and love. I think we all agree that we could see the longing in his eyes in some of their lives or events after S2 ended. Poor boy All in all, I hope he's no longer struggling with it and had found his own way to overcome this. It's such a rare and precious skill so it would be best if he can nurture it for future use. They both are amazing actors, hope there'll be more opportunities to show their talents ITF. Best wishes for my top favorite BL couple 👨‍❤️‍👨

In context, it was easy for us to miss (or misunderstand) the meaning of these few words. This is beautiful. You have perfectly captured the actors experience, knitting together various scenes from the series and interviews. I can see that it’s easy for an actor to blur the line between themselves and the character they play. At the heart of a drama like this is trust between two actors to play such emotional characters. It’s clear Sam Lin and Yang Yu Teng respect each other and were deeply connected. Anything else we expect of them is wish fulfillment. They gave more than enough in their performance.

I can't really say how many times I've rewatched this video, but since the first time--it has stayed with me. This series is one of the few that have really had a long lasting effect on me, one where the season 2 actually surpasses the first on so many levels (which is so hard to do). I really don't think these actors, or this series as a whole has gotten the kind of respect and praise that it truly deserves. The way both Sam and Yu have put their heart and soul into Shi De and Shu Yi is almost unparalleled. And we all can collectively agree that S2E2 left us all breathless. I pray we get a S3, because I just need to see these two on screen again. Until then, I'll be over here rewatching this edit and crying over it as always.

This is one beautiful video. This series was done so beautifully. I can not wait for season 3. To me, there seems to be something between them in the story and real life and it is beautiful, sweet and warm,. There is something wether it is friendship or love or both it is not for anyone else but them to say. What I like to always say is people come and go thru life, some are there to teach you a lesson and when the lesson is over they go and there are people who just stay in your life. I really do hope both of them are like this for the rest of their lifes because, I can tell they are both each other's safe space and they can be their true self when they are together. I hope nothing but the best for both of them. I am NOT saying its one thing or the other we as fans need to respect both of them. If its love then lets all accept the love and if its only friendship then let's accept the friendship. They bring the best of each other out. Beautiful video! I think SamYU's love is very evident and people notice it right away, that is why there are so many fans who continue to support them and believe in their love for one another. They are truly wonderful together, a loving and genuine partnership. Their chemistry is so undeniable on and off screen, it wouldn't be a surprise to many if they are really in love and in a romantic relationship IRL as well. Not being delusional but i feel like there would be a series purely based on SamYu's true relationship talking about their actual feelings. How they got to know each other and worked together in order to learn new things and how they ended up learning about each other instead. How they grew fond of each other. How they discovered the real meaning of affection while working together. This plot might be very interesting, but a part of me doesnt want this to be just a plot, if there is anything between them, which ofcourse will be pure love, then may god bless us with a series about SamYu not just DeYi.

Look, I really don't understand what's going on between these 2 hearts(sam-yu) but whatever that is, it's tacit but pure, the trust the friendship the understanding everything. May be they are more than friend and less than lovers. Even if we follow all their current works, projects or assignments, that too are quite interesting ,as when- YU released his 2nd EP(dark wings) SAM released his SINGLE(undefined/not defined) YU collaborated with EASTICE SAM collaborated with MISTOVA. May be those are all coincidents but what i see is these all make a circle of the personal relationship or rather link. P.S- It's absolutely my perspective of seeing those things.
