A thrift haul. Can't get lucky every time!

I visited a thriftshop last week (May 2024) and brought home quite a lot, for one shop. Didn't expect it, so here's an unexpected video.

Those speakers were part of a surround sound setup and from my childhood memory they sounded great and I also once had the Philips MCD 909 tube bookshelf system and that also sounded very good

Nice to see you can still pick up some hi-fi stuff at thifts, in Sweden those days are gone. if you find some vintage hi-fi unit you will pay for it. stumbled on to a SX-750 with half of the knobs missing and the dude wanted 290E for it untested.

Absolutely idiotic. People generally don’t care too much about second hand here so it’s pretty affordable.

Those Philips speakers with ribbon tweeters are quite interesting, I am occasionally looking for a pair of the bookshelf models, just to find out what they sound like

Those Philips speakers at the end, try them on the floor in proximity of walls, i´m thinking if they have a bass port in the bottom.

I know a bad case design when I hear it I’m afraid. A wall isn’t going to remove that hollow thunk, that is coming from the cabinet itself. It may be a little less pronounced when placed right but it’s not going to be a good sounding thing
