One thing I advise any parent that had dealt with addiction is to share your story with your children as a lesson of what NOT TO DO… I’ve experienced this myself and though there are numerous factors, curiosity played a significant role in my journey through addiction which started in my mid teens. Three years sober and my home is happier than ever. That lady is absolutely correct… addiction does not discriminate and it all begins at home. God bless anyone dealing with or watching their loved ones battle addiction. Take it step by step, one day at a time. Don’t take life nor everything you have for granted.

Thanksgiving day 2020 was my final wake up call. I overdosed 4 times in 4 months near the end of my 9 year battle with opiates…had used heroin for 7 of those years which slowly got cut with more and more fentanyl by these cartels. I’m grateful to have been given chance after chance but sometimes it doesn’t feel fair. I lost too many people to addiction and now I just want to help others find their way out too. It's not the drug of choice for users. They have no choice. If they did then it would be pure morphine, heroin and oxycodone. Fentanyl is only good for the supplier because it's cheap to produce makes a lot in terms of profit. People generally hate the effects of fentanyl; more respiratory depression, less euphoria, short duration, etc.

In 2016 I was dropped from my Palliative Care Team as a Chronic Pain Patient and told I no longer met the CDC requirements for treating my pain. I was told I was an addict and that in order to save the lives of all addicts my legal medications were being taken away. in 2016 63,000+ people died of OD. 2017 76 0000+ people died of OD 2018 68,000+ people died of OD 2019 80,000+ people died of OD 2020 90,000+ people died of OD 2021 100,000+ people died of OD I am not an addict, but being left in chronic untreated pain has caused me to stop all care for my chronic condition to hasten my death. QUANTITY OF LIFE MEANS NOTHING WITHOUT QUALITY. CPP's are not addicts, we did not create the drug problem but we have certainly paid the price. Since 2016 I have lost over 33 personal friends in the pain community who have committed suicide because they could not handle their untreated pain anymore. When I die, my hair will be proof of 6 years of living in constant untreated pain. We did not create this crisis, but we were certainly demonized for it. from 63,000 - 100,000 in less than 10 years... *good job CDC!* not!

Ya right, my wife is in the cemetery (2016) from suicide, spinal pain and mental illness (bipolar) she had too much on her plate, daughter died of heroin overdose, mentally ill 20 year old son kicked out of 3/4 house for not following rules living on the street she was worried about dying too etc etc, as far as pain, she was waiting for ever for Medicare to pay for the back surgery from the car accident and they kept putting it off with those pins in her back. I started doing them to deal with my anxiety and depression I really want to stop It's just hard and It feels like shit cause no one really knows my coworkers or some of my family and it just feels like I'm slowly killing myself and no one knows, I hope they seize all these pills tbh before it kills me one day 😔😪

I lived in an apt. and discovered that the neighbor punks across the hallway were selling dope through a window. I thought I knew one of them, and turned my back on him. It was wintertime and he picked up a shovel and hit me in the back of my head with it. I pulled my .45 on them, and they went to the local police, saying I pulled a gun on them. After I left the hospital, the local cops tried to arrest me. Never mind that I was an officer off duty. I and the sheriff went to the chief of police and got things dropped. They never did do anyting to the drug dealing punks. I went to the DEA myself.

They are worried about losing to many potential prison bodies, they never talk about where users can go to get help, but they did say how much time sellers are facing, many of the smaller city's are suffering with this problem because there is nothing for these kids to participate in, it's been like that for a few decades because of defunding, so many of these places have a high percentage of their population in and out of prisons, it's a bad situation...
