Some slowdown between Nov '58 and Aug '61, followed by earth destruction temptative !!!
Nov '58 : Khrushchev ask OTAN to leave Berlin
Aug '61 : Berlin Wall construction followed by Fidel trone.
------------------------------------------------------
Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 .

1:12 has got to be the most aggressive, and a bit more disturbing part of this video, because of how rough and quickly they were going and suddenly stop just for a few seconds, as well as the beeping noise getting louder and louder until it reaches it's highest volume point for just a millisecond. Which honestly it is quite terrifying if you put a deep thought into this, just imagine what would happen if a nuclear war did happen, imagine how aggressively that would started and ended?

Also towards the later part of the video the explosions were mostly underground for Russia and the US. The ground cuaght a lot of the radiation. Not all of the radiation, but most of it. Early ground testing had the slight chance the ground wasn't stable enough to hold the entire blast in but they figured out how to select ground that mostly contained the explosion after a few tries. Also not shown on the list are nuclear bombs that both the US and Russia accidentally misplaced due to bombers crashing or nuclear subs sinking. The US has had 32 broken arrow incidents as their known but only 6 nukes unaccounted for currently. No one knows how many Russia has lost but after the soviet union broke up they still had over 1700 nukes in Ukraine, so they're losses are probably high. Ukraine gave the nukes back to Russia for a super serious promise to never be invaded by Russia, A promise which Russia definitely wouldn't completely ignore numerous times...

Did these 2000+ tests have any sort of impact on the enviroment, atmosphere, humans???
@T-Dawg123a
@T-Dawg123a Жыл бұрын
@@JohnJhones the first hydrogen bomb to get tested was a bit more powerful than scientists predicted it would be which unfortunately caused a much larger fallout area than expected which happened to include a very unlucky Japanese fishing boat whose crew got a fatal dose of radiation. Additionally a nearby Pacific island had to be evacuated. The US Government kind of wanted to sweep it under the rug and claimed the island was safe, but locals started getting a bit sick from the radiation and it was eventually evacuated. Can't remember which island it was but still the most direct impact of US nuclear testing. Also pretty certain US cancer rates are higher due to the nuclear testing. that started to lower after treaties between the US and Russia ended above ground testing and the current puase in nuclear testing has lowered it further but it's still a long ways away from the cancer rates of the 1940s and earlier although some of that has been offset by reduced smoking and making various carcinogens illegal while I'm sure radiation has effected wildlife the impact seems to be very small compared to other human activities. The atmosphere is about normal though thankfully none of the testing was done in the upper atmosphere or space. I say thankfully because both the US and Russia had some interesting plans for using nukes in the past, I could probably write several paragraphs about some of the crazier ideas but I'll stop here.

@@underscoredfrisk I will agree with you that it is less likely that we will be killed by a meteorite than a atomic bomb. But that being said if a meteorite or a comet of sufficient mass were to hit earth it would have more energy in it than any current nuclear bomb. And more importantly there are infinitely more possibilities that can be classified as black swan events that would destroy the earth in one go. your argument lacks an understanding of Survivorship bias. Wish I was making this up but a few nights ago I had a dream me and my wife lived in San Francisco and a nuclear bomb hit. It was far enough away we were safe from the blast but saw and felt the heat and shock wave hit, just weaker because of the distance and it was a smaller bomb as a warning. My children were even young again and in Italy on a Girl Scout trip. NONE of that makes a lot of sense except in the dream it was but hasn't a surprise. We layer on the ground and a covered my wife with my body trying to shield her. The blast we could see and hear coming and lasted a while but we just got a big radiation dose that turned us really tan. I knew we would most likely die from the poisoning. I've never lived outside of middle America but talk about REAL! Sorry to bring up a silly dream it just seemed so real.
