Discover why tinnitus can be a gold mine for veterans seeking a 100% VA disability rating. In this video, I break down how tinnitus can lead to significant VA ratings by connecting it with secondary conditions such as vertigo, migraines, mental health issues, and Ménière’s disease. Many veterans don’t realize that once tinnitus is service-connected, these secondary conditions can be the key to increasing your overall VA disability rating, potentially leading to a 100% rating. I dive deep into real case studies from the Board of Veterans Appeals, showcasing how other veterans have successfully connected these conditions. Additionally, I highlight the rating criteria for each of these conditions, so you know what to expect and how to prepare. To strengthen your claim, I reference peer-reviewed scientific studies that confirm the medical link between tinnitus and these secondary conditions. This is crucial information for any veteran dealing with tinnitus and seeking to maximize their benefits. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn how to build a strong, evidence-based claim that could significantly increase your monthly VA compensation. Check out the resources below, including the high noise exposure MOS list, and take the first step toward securing the benefits you’ve earned.

I filed my paperwork with a DAV representative last week and I'm currently waiting for it to hit the system. I had written on there that I had Vertigo at times; however, having you talk about Meniere's Disease and reading up about it by myself made me realize that this might be what I have. I need to go to the AMCC tomorrow, so I'm about to look into it.

It's so crazy to see this because my exam showed I had tinnitus and a doctor confirmed I did. However, i was denied because I didn't file for it immediately after active duty so they assumed i was lying. Which is B.S because i served during the time where we had defective ear pro.

*I've had tinnitus for decades, and I can prove it because I can hear my pulse perfectly. That's how I knew to see a cardiologist a couple of years ago, because I could tell my heart was skipping beats. He gave me meds that fixed that, but I still have tinnitus. The VA said there was no proof that it was service-related, and that was the end of that...*

I have tinnitus which began while In was in the service as a cannon artillery officer. It am in my 70s and it has gotten so bad I can’t get to sleep until past midnight and the hissing in my ears wakes me up around 0500. I identified the frequencies and amplitude of the tinnitus in each each with the use of two tone generator apps on my phone. My right ear is in the 5300 Hz range and left ear is lower around 4800. Occasionally Inget a very low humming tone. I measured my tinnitus at around 90 Db. When I’m vacuuming the kitchen floor with a Dysen V10 I can still hear the tinnitus over the roar of the vacuum, which is 92 Db. It is a condition the VA is ignoring so thank you for presenting this video.

Have you done a hearing test with VA or Civilian doctor? Have you filed your claim for Tinnitus? Have they sent your for a C&P exam for Tinnitus? Request your full military service record and medical records. If you were in a military hospital, those records are separate from your personal medical records request them by the hospital name. Tell your doctor about hearing loss and tones. Get a hearing test done. Since you hear tones all the time click when you hear tones, when in doubt, click. File a claim if you haven't already or an appeal if you have. Include a personal statement of how it affects your life. If you have a wife or close friend you spend time with have them write a statement of how you complain or react when the tone changes like mine does (I flinch and stop what I am doing when the tone or volume changes). Tell them you were in Artillery, Include copy your DD-214 and military service records showing where you served and types of commands. When they schedule you for a C&P exam, go to it. Tell the examiner everything about tones, vacuum, military artillery, and how tinnitus affects your daily life. Examiner will probably give you another hearing test. Click when you hear tones, when in doubt, click. Good luck. If you are granted Tinnitus disability look at all the KZbin videos on secondary claims related to tinnitus and get diagnosed before filing for any that are pertinent to you.

Hello Jordan! I was diagnosed with tinnitus for 10% and also got 70% for anxiety and depression secondary to tinnitus. I'm not sure how to piece together a VA claim for sleep apnea as a secondary as well as migraines. I did get a sleep study done with the VA and was prescribed a CPAP machine a few years back. I have a hard time using the machine even with a chin strap, it doesn't fully keep my mouth from opening when I sleep. Also, I've been prescribed 25mg, 50mg and currently 100mg Sumatriptan. I've seen a VA neurologist and they prescribed 80mg Pronanolol for migraine headaches daily dose. I brought up to the neurologist that after taking the medication I began to experience problems in the bedroom and they said that ED is a side effect of the meds. I'm not sure I can do it all on my own at this point because I'm recovering from a stroke that I suffered at the end of last year.

@ I literally filed for insomnia secondary due to my tinitus. Becuase I have tinitus I can’t sleep well at all. I filed like that I have documented. They denied saying anything tinitus related which is secondary like I did got denied and said it’s maxed nothing tinitus related can go up anymore. Maybe they did me wrong as the Va constantly does everyone there should be known so they fear to fuck veterans over and over. I filed for insomnia due to my current tinitus disability. They denied it and said anything tinitus related is maxed out. I didn’t file to get tinitus increase I filed for insomnia but they denied me and said reason was they won’t give higher rating for anything tinitus related. Again maybe it’s new? Maybe I just keep getting fucked and it just me. Maybe they twisted and filed incorrectly on purpose so I got denied again 5th time over 13 fucking years. The Va is absolutely pieces of pure shit it’s a bunch of overweight obese assholes who don’t give a fuck. I hope all of the Va workers will get what’s coming to them soon or later man while system is rigged otherwise why allllll these 3rd party entities taking advantage of veterans who don’t know how to apply for disability even tho they have disabilities clearly fucking their lives up. You have to “work” the system and all of these people taking veterans money to “help” then with their claims for money. Fuck that shit should be free.

White noise doesn't help! I can put earbuds in and play them LOUD, but the ringing, ringing, ringing passes through it all. Listen, I've already been diagnosed with tinnitus and over the past years since the tinnitus, inability to sleep and nighttime headaches, and frequent stumbles, I've gone from being a "key resource" in the large civilian partnership I work for to being an underperformer; I can't sleep at night because the ringing is all consuming, I can't think clearly during the day as a result, and as I've shared repeatedly with my primary doctor, after I enter in to sleep, I am frequently awakened with throbing headache. I am so tired of the red tape, but I keep trying, because the VA needs to make me whole again. If something doesn't happen soon, the VA can use all that red tape to............... The lack of sleep and constant LOUD ringing has slowly burnt out my personal fire of resiliance and ability to contribute to my family and my work. Tinnitus is a vet killer and it was a hell of a lot easier to enlist than to receive help for this condition.

This is a little misleading. Yes there is no test but there is an exam. During the exam the doctor will ask question like, have you ever used a power tool, law mower, been to a music concert, fired weapons, all outside of your time in the military. If you answer these or other questions wrong they may not diagnose you with tinnitus. They are going to want exact times when you first noticed the ringing and what kind of sound do you hear. Don't say one thing the change it later. In short, take the "no proof" thing with a grain of salt and be careful when you're being questioned.

Not true in many ways. It's also a shameful slap in the face of actual disabled veterans that this guy is trying to teach people how to game the system. Here's the facts: tinnitus maxes at 10%. Moreover, secondary conditions such as hearing loss are often only 0% , even if hearing loss is more than moderate. Also, tinnitus is rarely approved as a claim at any time after discharge. If you didn't tell them when you got out, you didn't have tinnitus.

Drew, she must have been testing for something else because tinnitus is subjective. There is no way anyone else can hear it unless it is a different type of tinnitus which would not be associated with acoustic trauma or anything of that nature it would be more of a medical condition that could be corrected and be gone. Keep in mind that impacted ear wax can also cause tinnitus.

While working on the flight deck, I worked 56,000 mission sorties on the LSO platform as well as the flight deck, facing extreme noise exposure and sustaining multiple falls. Over the years, I’ve developed severe knee pain and resulting injury, difficulty walking, and chronic pain also ringing in my ears and focusing problems, among other health issues. Additionally, I struggled with alcohol abuse for many years but am now sober. As my symptoms have worsened, I believe it’s time to seek support through a disability claim, and I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed.

Go to your local VFW or American Legion and set up a meeting with a representative to help you get started. In the mean time request your service records (form SF-180) , dd-214 if you don't already have it in your possession, and your medical records, including request to any and all medical hospitals if you have been hospitalized while serving. All those are on the SF-180 but you need to name each hospital where you were hospitalized as those records are separate from your personal medical records/.

I haven’t seen much of any information regarding ratings for Ménière’s disease out there until I stumbled upon this video. I got diagnosed with it during my last couple years in the navy. I do get vertigo attacks, get off balance, experience dizziness attacks, and strangely enough my tinnitus I’ve dealt with for years dramatically got worse in one ear and my hearing dramatically reduced in the same ear. Currently waiting to see my final disposition of my VA claim. Thank you for sharing this info

What should I be looking for and I don't understand your links please advise ASAP seems as though I got to spend $2,000 I can't correct this I'm using the voice command and it's not working properly but I need an answer I'm meeting on the 24th with this representative and in my opinion I should be able to get retroactive from 1974 please advise

You are a very good speaker who explains all of this very well but I'm really surprised that traumatic brain injury would not be connected to tinnitus as well. Also when people write or are given a sample letter to support claim for anything, please ask them to change it to suit their needs and not to just take all words verbatim so that when someone is reading these letters you don't really have to read them because they all say the exact same thing and we know that each person is not the same and doing the exact same things at night to sleep or whatever. It is so obviously not their words. Also that's need to hurry up because the VA is being kind and awarding anything for tinnitus as there are so many other causes such as medications, too much caffeine, too much salt in the diet, etc. And these things the VA does not look into further but who knows what the changes will be soon. We have been told that you have to report tinnitus within a certain time period post separation for it to be considered so any of you who are still active, hurry up!

I’m always nervous about messing with my rating. I’m at a total of 90% for my knees, back, and tinnitus. I see re-exams as an opportunity to lose what I have. I’m in my early 50s now and feel like I am better off not saying anything to increase my rating for fear of decreasing it instead.

I'M SC FOR TINNITUS AT THE MAX 10%. Yet, it destroyed my life as it distorts words and cannot carry on a conversation with background noise. They always find my TINNITUS FREQUENCY in these audio tests. I never hear the tone until it gets louder than the TINNITUS RINGTONE. Further, I was 30% hearing loss only to have 20% removed by a test, a whooping hearing test that was multi frequency. That should be illegal. That proves nothing because it does not allow for what I cannot hear, only what I can hear over multiple freq's. david P.S.A. I worked with Jet Engines launching and recovery of patrol bombers, P-3 Orion and the SP-2V Neptune with two reciprocating engines and two ram jets, jet powered air starters for the P-3. P.S.B. My inability to hear and carry on in-depth conversation like sitting with people led to me being a recluse outside of the home. Finally, I was divorced in 1983 and never remarried because: I CANNOT UNDERSTAND FEMALE COMMUNICATION AS IT IS TOO SOFT. Therefore, clubbing and dances were off the menu. Dinner dates were filled with what did you say? Say that again? I didn't get all that. Could you repeat that? With the answer generally, "it wasn't important." P.S.C. I now have A.D.D. that was recently diagnosed. P.S.D. Good grief! I bounce off the walls going to the bathroom. I have problems walking in a straight line. I learned to compensate by walking with my legs wider apart and it helps but only a degree. And yes, sometimes I can lay in bed and the room spins. Only a few times in my life do I remember having the spinning going on when sitting up. I don't remember it ever when walking. P.S.E. You said you can help? Really? No one else has been able to break through for me to include lawyers. I gave up. Why? When you win something they figure a way to take it back. I have been unemployed since 1999. I lost my profession, Truck Driving Interstate to Affirmative action and better tax credits than paid than paid for veterans tax credits so I was told by an honest (I supposed) prospective employer. I started driving taxis and hotshot and delivery driver after that and did that for years and years. I have fought depression and had extreme anxiety for years but by the help of Elohim, I got over the anxiety attacks and panic attacks and am drug free, completely these last 6+ months. david.

Looking on pubmed at the diagnostic criteria for Meniere's disease, it is considerably more complicated than what this video makes it to be. For example the symptom vertiigo is defined as an attack that lasts between 20 minutes and 12 hours. That's a huge difference then a simple dizzy spell or stumble, which I have along with tinnitus and severe headaches. But I doubt that a ear, nose and throat doctor will diagnose me with Meniere's disease. My MOS was a helicopter mechanic. I constantly worked around running aircraft for 16 years.
@Alvy.07
@Alvy.07 Ай бұрын
It’s usually the effects that come AFTER the vertigo and dizziness attacks that last 20+ minutes to hours. You could come down from the attacks but there could still be lasting, less severe, symptoms of it lingering for awhile. That’s probably what it’s alluding to. That kind of how it happens with me.

I filed for secondary claims to tinnitus and told my primary care doctor i needed a Nexus letter with connections to tinnitus for migraines, hypertension, sleep apnea with CPAP prescription, heart attack condition linked to sleep apnea and COPD. The primary care doctor was in agreement until the day the filings were submitted. I was told the primary care doctor was told she could not submit a Nexus letter for the secondary connections. So in the end the secondaries were denied. Now i have hired lawyers refiling secondaries with Nexus letters and C&P exams on Appeal. I hope this will get me to the 100% as the heart condition is considered 100% and is on my medical records and can be connected to my sleep apnea.

I served on a US Navy ship as a machinist mate. I worked in the engine room and lost over 80% of my hearing. The VA only wants to call my hearing loss "Tinitus" so they can get off cheap and only pay for the constant ringing in my ears. What about the fact that I am a musician and my hearing is very important to me? They only want to give me 10% DR for this. They refuse to fill out a DBQ or write a nexus letter. I have migraines, loss of balance, visual imparment, depression, and many other secondary conditions. But it doesn't matter. They say they don't have a copy of my service records so they can't provide the requested information. I HAVE an official CD rom copy of my service records, but they refuse to look at it. They also say they have never done a DBQ or Nexus letter before so they don't know how. I have already won my case for PTSD, COPD, and migraine headaches, but you simply cannot link them together like you claim. So my question is, why are you spreading these falsehoods?
