@mrkennedy43942 жыл бұрын
In New Zealand we don't really have those extreme weather conditions. You'll get a random flood every once in a while. Can't remember when we last had a major fire. I think they are in the middle of nowhere which is why all their stuff is outside. In the cities you wouldn't do that 😀

Yeah, extreme weather is not much of an issue in NZ (yet) but it's also pretty safe, so Bryce tends not to go into detail about that stuff on NZ videos. I've definitely seen him ask those kinds of questions on Australian and U.S. tiny home vids though. It just goes to relevancy i guess.

This is one of the nicest tiny houses yet. Being able to stand in the bedroom is a big deal to me. I know I would feel trapped and claustrophobic in those smaller upstairs standing spaces which most of the homes have. My biggest problem though, besides the fact that my wife would never agree to such a living situation, I have way too many books, enough to fill a tiny house from floor to ceiling and maybe still have some left over. I can't part with them. But this channel helps me to live vicariously through the various homes, this one being extra special in my opinion. I live in the USA but from what I have seen of "down under" on this channel, it is quite beautiful and I would love to visit (getting me on a plane is another story).
@bibliomama83102 жыл бұрын
Going tiny has great appeal, but I too have a large personal library in the thousands of books. I'm thinking the solution would be a separate shipping container as a dedicated library. The moving costs would be increased in case of relocation, but well worth the price, imo. Angus's house and outbuilding for solar batteries is a good example for this. Love everything about his home.
@brigham22502 жыл бұрын
@@bibliomama8310 -- Yes, I thought about having a separate "home/library" for my books, too. But this is all just fantasy on my part because, like I said above, my wife would never agree to tiny house living. But it is fun to pretend in my head.

Great to see a young couple following their dreams + recognizing that they really didn't need the big house + all it's possessions that most of us feel is a priority that we couldn't live without. I went from a home 3 times the size to what I have downsized to. Downsizing wasn't easy as I thought I needed all of what I had accumulated over 25 years, but the last 10 years of living in a tiny cottage is much more freeing. I'm surprised at how easily I adapted + I don't miss the bigger home at all. I wish this young couple a wonderful future. If they choose to become parents I'm sure they'll find an ingenious way to accommodate a little one until it's a bit bigger + needs a bedroom of its own.

Calculating the actual living space from the figures he gave--33' x 10', and then adding the upper rooms (estimating 10 x 12 and 10 x 10 but looks like more with the wide angle lens he's using) It looks like all together, it's well over 500'sq of living space--which is really not all that tiny. Add the mud room which is probably another 100' sq and it comes to about the same size as a single wide mobile home here in the US.
