I like the way you handle this problem, Warwick! I remember watching one of your older videos about this same tip and it's still such a clear and understandable technique to help the horse and rider. It's about making the "right" thing easy and the "wrong" thing hard, as you say. I was also glad to see you work that first warmblood to the point where it was calm without a bridal and bit in the arena since the poor thing was foaming/frothing at the mouth in the beginning. Your work with horses is really clear and consistent. Thanks for sharing!!

I love this! I am so glad I clicked and watched. I'm going to use this exercise to my advantage with more than just the spooky arena.

It's amazing how you get things done...most horse people would've fought the horse to look at the scary thing or force it to walk by the banners, what a great idea!

Thank you! I'm doing ground work with a new horse and he loves to stop at the gate. And I've been working him all over my ring...he goes okay...but maybe I should spend some more time working in front of the gate after watching this. thanks for posting...you have been a great source for someone going this alone.

Kind of like making the easy thing hard and the hard thing easy? Great way to explain the problem and solution.

Thank you for a great tip once again! That makes so much sense to me and since there's so many horses avoiding the other end of the arena I think this will be very useful when riding those horses

Damn, that’s a cute little dog! Great advice and common sense “horse think” approach, as always.

Interesting concept. Along the same principle of working a horse who wants to not stop when asked to.

I'll have to inform my horse that one end of the arena is scary. He's more worried about giant horse eating squirrels in trees.

I recently bought a new horse who’s been out of work of a while. He was great to start with but after a while every trail ride after he couldn’t see his paddock he would spin a rear, in the arena he will pigroot and buck at the gate and more recently trail riding he’s trying to bolt back home. I think he has separation anxiety. He used the be paddock with a mare and two yearlings and the mare has since been moved an he got worse, now it seems as though he doesn’t want to leave the two yearlings (he’s totally fine on the ground to go away from them and walk around) do you have any tips?

Yes, do what I did in this video, dont ask him to go away from home or the gate , allow him to. If he wants to stay there, just do your work there.

Is there a reason why you have them ride around bridleless? Does it teach something particular or is it more to see how the horse(and rider) has changed?

Just to show how the horse should be able to control itself.
