@Joni Crouch Here in the UK we have an odd mix of French and English. We'll have demi-plies and full-plies (rarely grand) but we do have grand battement. We have glissade over and under, presumably because people don't understand dessus and dessous. Lately I've heard people in class referring to preparatory position as B+; I've heard American dancers call this position zero. You're right, of course, it doesn't matter. Ballet is wonderful to watch and to do. One of the most difficult things for me was when I switched to Cecchetti from RAD. Cecchetti has different terms for the arms. Most teachers here are schooled in RAD. Personally, I prefer BBO, but there aren't many teachers about.

For anyone who is confused for the fire/lighter basically ballerinas use fire on the tips of the ribbons so they don’t turn into string (idk how to say it but we all know what I mean) For the ice one ballerinas need to put their feet in ice at the end of the day because of all the hard work in ballet shoes And for the make up one ballerinas use that to give the shoes a shine and make them a bit more colorful or hide any blemishes so on. Rosin is a powder used so ballerinas don’t slip on stage
@chuckbeggles8858 Жыл бұрын
People burn the ends of the ribbons so they don't turn into something the equivalent of horse hair, which is in turn useless as a ribbon or a rope - yes people burn the ends of rope for the same reason. Thank you for the rest of your explanation as someone not from the dance industry.
