I grew up as a kid watching AJ and Darrell Eastlake present F1 in Australia always enjoyed their banter. Plus love AJ's no nonsense approach and his love for F1.

What a brilliant commentator is Mr. Alan Jones. He would be just perfect to comment races on tv. He is a pleasure to listen to him also because you feel the passion for racing. Great video indeed. Thank you !

He did commentate with Daryl, he actually made comments after each Ad break. The race commentator was Murray Walker. He was unbelievably blunt, wasn’t a fan of Nigel Mansell, amongst others, he never backed off either .Also was a great friend of Patrick Head & Frank Williams, so knew what was going on in Formula One. He definitely retired too early!

Flame Resistant Troll I wasn’t aware of that Although he had a pretty solid “frame”. I saw him at Bathurst in a Falcon passing someone 3 wheels on the grass. He was an extremely competitive driver, when he was motivated. He was very close to Patrick Head & Frank Williams,always had tidbits of info from them on the F1 coverage in Australia.

Alan Jones is basically the reason why F1 became a very popular sport in Australia and why we have had an Australian Formula One Grand Prix since 1985. Thanks Mate !

We only got live F1 coverage in Australia in 1981 because AJ won the championship in 1980. I think the first race shown was the South African race.

@@alvaronunesdesousa878 the most beautiful racing car ever built. With the best driver. He also drove the second most beautiful racing car ever built during his comeback with Lola. If that car had a decent engine I think he could have been competitive. It was still one of the sweetest handling cars ever. But of course, in the hands of a master. Even today's Williams would have looked good if he was driving it.

@Flame Resistant Troll "- but I don't think either of those Renault drivers expected AJ to blast by them both!!"... How could they? it still looks impossible:) AJ was the ultimate master of wing cars, with the smoothest control of intentional slides, oversteering, understeering ... a great champion.

Alan Jones is active in a Facebook group related to 70's F1. I had the opportunity to exchange opinions about some facts and stories from those years. Yes, even at his 73 years old, he's still same attitude, controversial opinions about drivers and countries, and some people argue with him but when you have the chance to talk with a World Champion is better to listen what he has to tell rather argue with him

There is a Williams from 1992 I think in the DAF (trucks) Museum in Eindhoven Netherlands. I asked but I was not allowed to sit in it. Beautiful car

Surprised AJ needed a name tag, thought he would have keys to the place. It's well known he was adored by everyone at Williams. I read a story, told by a well known name that I forget, possibly a journalist. Told many years after Prost drove for them. Two Williams guys were moaning about something, one said to the other, "it wouldn't be like that if Alan was still here". The guy telling the story assumed they meant Prost. No, it was Jones!

whats a ferrari doing in a williams factory?
@georgejacob31626 жыл бұрын
Well maybe it's similar to the story of the personal car of Walter P. Chrysler being in the Ford museum. Maybe Frank was really bitter at losing Alesi to Ferrari and so wanted a Ferrari car in return.
