Dan visits Ludlow Castle and explains the long, turbulent history of this formidable fortress - proving how real history is even cooler than Game of Thrones.

Dan thank you very much for this video. My wife and I were touring the UK and saw a flyer for Ludlow Castle at our hotel. We then did some research , and my wife found your Ludlow castle video online. I told her I was a big historical fan of you and your dad and we should put Ludlow on the tour. We hit the gorgeous town of Ludlow on our way from Telford to Cheltenham. We we’re not disappointed…. The castle was awesome , complete with the groundskeepers trying to get a cat out of a medieval 3rd story windowsill from a shaky ladder. Ludlow was one of the highlights of our trip from Ballater Scotland to London. Thank you very much from California. Tony

So glad to have found this video! I've recently discovered a branch of my family tree that goes back to Walter de Lacy as well as Roger Mortimer, both of whom lived in this castle--utterly amazing!

lovely place, I remember hiring a rowing boat on the river below back in the early 80s and having a fabulous view of the castle. Well worth a visit.

By far Shropshire's best castle and one of the best preserved in the country.

Thank you! My interest began with Henry VII sending his son and heir Arthur to this castle with his bride Katherine of Aragon after they were married. Arthur Prince of Wales died here and well you know the story.......

It's important to note that Ludlow castle was built as a stone caste from the start. Most castles at the time were started as wood castle and converted to stone later. Ludlow castle was stone from the beginning.

Very unprofessional documentary tour of a castle which is not up to your normal excellent presentation. This back and forth chit chat to people on social media constantly interrupts the flow of information which again, is not up your normal standard. I expect the tour of Ludlow town and other similar videos you propose to do will be of the same style so you have lost a long standing admirer of your work as I will not be watching anymore of your videos if this is the level of presentation. Very disappointed.

This is one of his very old ones! I hope you have since discovered the newer, more professional ones. This one must have been done as a live, since he was greeting people as they joined.
