A Tour of the LOCOS at Crewe Heritage Centre with 91120 being STRIPPED Inc 37401, 47712 and 88001

Crewe Heritage Centre is well worth a visit - Do come and visit and spend some time here when you're in the area. Lot's of great exhibits to see plus fantastic views of the northern end of Crewe station, WCML and the Chester line.
There is a very nice cafe, gift shop and the signal boxes are fascinating places to spend some time.
My visit coincided with the MIOG event (Modern Image O Gauge Exhibition) - There were lots of great model layouts on show inside the main building onsite.
LSL and DRS were kindly supporting the event by lending 37401, 47712 and 88001 for the weekend.
You'll see 91120 in the video having its Europhoenix livery removed. The vinyl has taking some removal - Big respect to the guys chipping away at this as it looked painstakingly frustrating work. The loco is to be repainted onsite.
Finally - Great to see 87035 again in that iconic Virgin livery.. Such a shame this loco can't make an appearance on the mainlines however a visit to Crewe Heritage Centre is worth it to see this loco alone!

I was here yesterday Saturday 9th March 2024 I seen the virgin class 87 and the Apt/ class 37108 the class 91 and seen the hst power car plus the 1st type metro-link Manchester tram from the 1990s I attended the toy fair it was good nice day out well worth it! good video as always 👍 👌 👏

I was there yesterday, had a great day with some lovely layouts inside. Saw 91120 being stripped while I was there. Perhaps back to IC livery? Would love to see the 87 on the mainline again with a rake of virgin Mk2s! Maybe one day

37401 had yellow headcode panels when it arrived, someone has been busy with a paint brush, but not a cleaning brush !

@@trainsplanes Thanks for the explanation. I was thinking that a loco that was only seven years old probably had a few miles left on the clock. Nice to see some classic British Diesel and Electric traction being well looked after. I have spent most of my life in South Wales (born in the early 60s), son of a railwayman so class 37s and 47s were bread and butter locos to me. I must say that I have enjoyed your drone videos over various railway yards etc. Keep up the good work.

I can't find much aside from it being on 12 month loan due to Europhoenix having no use for it atm. I guess they're allowing the repaint as part of that.

I believe the 87 gave up some parts to get 87002 in main line service. If it can be justified to get it in running order, surely class 90 parts would be more suitable than those from a 91? There are some of those stored for spares nearby, although 87002, 86101, 90001 & 90002 spend most of their time just waiting to be used now, so why bother getting another running so it can just sit there? But it is just having a re-paint anyway.
