You may have thought you had awkward stuttering at points but it was kind of easy to overlook because of the tone of voice you had. It seemed professional enough for me (and I think others) gloss over any stuttering points. Good video, keep up the efforts!

I was pretty skeptical when Gnome3 was first released, but I think now it has matured quite well to the point that it's a pleasure to use and may be my favourite desktop environment. I'll be curious to see how Ubuntu 18.04 turns out, I wonder to what degree they'll modify Gnome.

Have you guys heard about ocs-url protocol? It allows us to install themes right from the browser, where it is, another cool way to customize our environment.

Really useful! Clear, helpful explanations helpful for someone like me (trying to decide whether to install Unity or Gnome to a new machine). Thanks for the video. :)

If you have 16.10 already installed and accept the upgrade message to 17.04 you don't have to you tweek anything. But I found vlc only played audio so I had to change to smplayer.

Nice demo, however I have a question. How well does Gnome3 run with respect to memory and cpu speed? thanks

+Matt Curcio good question. I didn't benchmark it, but based on subjective smoothness it's comparable to Unity. Not too long ago performance was awful on Gnome, so it has improved a lot in that respect. That's my impression at least. (Again not based on benchmarks.)

Nice video! Don't forget that you can make your make your launcher even more compact using Dash to Dock settings ... The launcher in your video still takes up a lot of space. Anyway, well done.

Oh yes, there is a new theme that makes GNOME look like Unity: download here, extract, and put the folder(s) in your ./themes folder. www.gnome-look.org/p/1174889

+Antoon Stessels thanks, yes that's a great extension too, especially if you're looking for a more windowsy or kde-ish look!

Super key + H, minimizes windows :) but admittedly its not obvious without looking up the keyboard shortcuts in the GNOME Help files. GNOME has heaps of handy keyboard driven shortcuts though.

Thanks, that's useful to know! Indeed, under Settings → Keyboard you can configure loads of shortcuts.
