Another great episode. Can't believe i have never been to the shop. That will need to change once back to normal!
@DaChef19744 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that episode was definitely better than the first two. No fake tears, no fake drama. But honestly, pretty much every small toy store I know sells online. In the toy groups on FB it looks like people are actually buying more right now. I know I do. You'd sell all that Star Wars and Motu stuff in day.
@leicestervintagetoyshop4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s why we avoid the Facebook sales pages to be honest, selling stuff is easy the art though is in the finding of the stuff in the first place. If we sell everything no one would come to the shop anymore 🤷♂️ it’s not all about the money. We love having the toys in so we can enjoy them as well.

Great episode! I hope Joseph Hand can keep his business afloat - good luck to the Vintage and Old Toy Shop! I really like how he talks about nostalgia factor, which is something I have come to understand in a whole new way since I became a toy collector a bit shy of a decade ago. I suppose I used to feel that collecting out of nostalgia was a bit sad, but when I experienced the rush of spontaneous joy when I'd stumble on something I loved as a kid, instead of causing me to spend a lot of time sitting around feeling wistful, it injected an excitement into my present day that I think radiated out into everything I do. I found community and creativity (started making stuff, which is something I enjoyed as a kid). The people I've met through collecting are amazing and wonderful, and have as much to do with my wish to continue collecting as the objects themselves. So, yeah, I know I'm blathering on a bit, so I'll just stop by saying thanks for this warm-hearted and cheerful video series. (and I want to find my way to that Palitoy town once we kick Covid-19... will they let you bring a shovel on a plane, do you think?)

Great video guys. Anytime your in Leicester go visit Leicester Vintage you wont be disappointed. Great selection of toys and great customer service. Keep up the good work. We will be back. Sadly, they have closed again as Leicester plunges into a second lockdown. Lets hope it doesn't last. Stay positive !

Fantastic. Joe and his team are a great bunch, very friendly and they remember their customers and what they like (they even remember my son's favourite footy team). Love it in there and Joe's sold me most of my vintage Stormtrooper collection!

Great video. Your Alien appears to be a Kenner Canada version. If it is this version, it will have no copyright on the finger lever, on the back of the head. It's also shot in a more gray, than the USA Kenner version. It also has glue that seeps from the seams of the toy. It's certainly less common than the USA Kenner version. I have a boxed version of both. Again, great video.

Yes the Irwin one, i had never seen one in the flesh before and yes no copyright on the trigger or the back of the head. Thanks for confirming it, a friend thought the same. Weird that one got sent to Palitoy but we’ve found so many different country variants locally. Thanks again. Joe 👍

Was it Lee that is your friend? He contacted me on Facebook about it. Yes, it is the Kenner Canada version, made at Irwin, by what I see. By the way, your store is awesome!

Great episode, great guy and great store! Nice to see an episode from my home country. And funnily enough, Leicester was the main story in UK news today - its being locked down tighter due to a localised surge there, so he'll most likely have to close down again unfortunately, since the government said non-essential businesses will have to close.

or “timely” as all eyes are on Leicester so what better time to tell the story of our struggle in Lockdown. The Times did a follow on story with Joseph the owner the day we went back into lockdown which picks up where the film left off 👍
