after having read Audrey and Bill (wonderful book) I can’t help but feel...numb about how things between them turned out. From their first encounter, it was true love at first sight. Oh, the things they did together. Late night drives/walks to isolated areas, candle lit dinners, a sense of Holden bringing out Audrey’s “inner child” where she would laugh and be her goofy self. It was beautiful. If only he hadn’t undergone that surgery...who knows how things would’ve turned out for them both. It could’ve been a happily ever after, since neither of them led a happy love life after the making of Sabrina, at least not in my eyes. They were meant for each other, I honestly believe that. Two lost and confused souls they were, off camera when it came to their romantic lives. Only if he would have smarted up and bettered his career instead of indulging in sex and alcohol, he could’ve won her back, if not soon then a few years down the line. He was a mess when they returned for Paris when it sizzles, drinking constantly, and I’m sure that didn’t swoon Audrey at all. Though if he had a friend help him get through the heartbreak, to have him focus on the good of his career, then when they would reunite years later, she would see how he’s grown and how much he takes his work seriously. Plus she already had a son, and her marriage to Mel (that vulture) was on the rocks. So sad that they couldn’t live the rest of their lives together, makes me feel incomplete about the whole thing, like reading a book with a cliffhanger or a nagging bad script to go back and revise. She often looked for the same kind of love she shared with Holden in the men to follow, but none (and few) in my heart ever compared to the real thing.

Agreed.. this PWIS felt like a comedy of errors. He drank to drown his sorrows but only worsen his chances. Like something evil was there to tear these lovers apart from the beginning, his first wife talked him into settling down, settle was sensible thing “to do” then when they made babies and thought it was too much, she pressured him into get vasectomy. I knew this because if he HAD made decisions himself he’d not drink in his sorrows over regrets of doing so and succumbing the wife’s wishes & 2nd would not have started cheating on wife afterwards.. like if someone had told him Audrey is gonna come into his life.. he’d waited and they’d married or If put Audrey and had met Audrey earlier or put in same stage room her and____ the wife (what’s her name?? Don’t remember don’t care) ... He’d chose Audrey over her definitely!! I know it! She made him “settle” and forced on the V.. hence regrets upon regrets...

Her strength from inside her was absolutely powerful. To have fallen so in love with Bill then completely walking away from a maraculious love is very emotional. She did love everyone so I’m quit sure she loved him until death he just couldn’t complete her totally. RIP MR HOLDEN, AUDREY HUPREN AND ALL YOUR LOVED ONES (as well as mine and all reading this)❤️✝️🥰

William Holden was fascinated with and wanted to marry Audrey Hepburn who firstly was a ballerina but got into show biz by chance. She used all her hard training as a ballerina to give acting her "all". She worked VERY hard and was ever so determined to do her very best when she worked, whatever she did. She always said it was very much work to act and she did a great job considering she didn't have acting lessons like most. She was amazing. It was amazing that she survived the Nazis in Arnhem and Fell (sp?) in The Netherlands since they took over her town and the next. Her uncle, a lawyer, was shot by the Nazis because he would not snitch on the people of Arnhem.

You can still feel their chemistrey, love and passion. Sad it was other times and Audrey could not have an artificial insemination or a surrogate or William Golden a reversal of his vasectomy so she could become a mother. Or maybe it was probably not ment to be as the most torride romances usually dont, because when she divorce Ferrer William Holden was still married, womanizing and drinking.

We don't know the entire story...only Audrey and William do. I read that Audrey wanted to have children...which is her choice, but it probably was not the "only issue" that made their relationship not work. In the end for Audrey, she had two children that she loved dearly and they loved her dearly and she also had a very hooooottttt looking boyfriend...even though looks are not everything. Her boyfriend/companion was with her for many many years until the end of her life. No one was ruined.

@@melissaallen3918 Robert treated Audrey very well, yes (way better than Mel or Andrea) but to say they were soulmates? Not likely. Robert had his own wife before he met Audrey, whom he loved dearly but sadly passed away. I love that she spent her later years with a man who had the common sense to see that cheating was wrong and immoral, but I honestly don’t believe he was her true love seeing as I believe Robert’s true love was his late wife. Holden came close, but the timing was off to being Audrey’s true love (though I believe if they both tried a little harder, things could’ve worked). She never found that special Mr. right, but in a way maybe that’s not a bad thing because it shows that she was that much of a goddess that she was meant for no man lol

+françoise Bremond - Yes she did ruin both of their lives didn't she? Mel Ferrer and her second husband both cheated on her so she was not happy either and we all know what happened to Bill. How anybody can refuse such a wonderful man (at least at that time) I cannot understand. Up to 0.37 is from Sabrina and the rest is ALL from Paris When It Sizzles - wonderful movie, you should really rent it. You can get it from Amazon Instant videos..

You don’t know her do you? From her perspective, she wants to experience the pregnancy 9 months with her own blood egg and sperm, naturally not insemination (if they had any or safe procedures @ that time? or adoption) none are the same.. I’m sure hindsight she may say yeah WHolden was enough.. but then her mind was having babies and make up for a family she never had. BUT all you do is repeat what you had.. based on default.. she had a deadbeat dad so attracted a deadbeat husband and rejected true love your Knight in shining armor (except in its liquid because you rejected him). He cheated on his wife because she forced him to get a vasectomy.. No woman!! This is a personal choice a man must make himself NOT you. I don’t see that spark or chemistry a bond between William and his first wife as He had with Audrey, there’s a gentleness a deep caring, that no man seen with me, not Mel or Dotti treated her.

It wasn't that he had the vasectomy. It was because he knew she wanted children and then waited so long to tell her about it. If he was honest with from the beginning it she wouldn't have left him.
