Tom Roby's message re Christine Robb's passing.
We are all devastated at the news that Christine Robb passed away early Monday morning (April 22, 2024) after a long illness that suddenly took a turn for the worse. She was 52 years old.
Christine was an amazing person. She was a fantastic dancer in several different styles, including renaissance, vintage, waltz, scandi, contra, and ECD.
Although not the sort of person to draw attention to herself, one couldn’t help but be awed by the graceful way she glided around dance floors, making it all look effortless.
As a caller of ECD, she had an extensive and eclectic repertoire, and discussions with her of dances, dancing, and choreography were always a delight. She had a wicked sense of humor and a great awareness of what was going on in the room.
Her services to Country Dance Society, Boston Centre were many and varied. She was the webmaster for many years, and compiled all the programs for reference. She helped organize many special events. She called regularly for us and other groups.
Her dance Sapphire Sea is one of the most beloved in all the repertoire. For many dancers, it was their first encounter with the dolphin hey figure.
