A Tribute to Paul Sherwen - ITV 2019

A wonderful tribute to former professional cyclist & broadcaster, Paul Sherwen, who sadly passed away on December 2nd 2018. Presented by his long-time colleague & friend, Phil Liggett.

Paul came to our crit in Bethel CT several years ago. After the race he held an impromptu recap with us, pointing out various riders and making jokes of how they rode and what they were wearing. A more genial, charming, witty gentleman I've yet to encounter.

Didn't know Paul had passed as when back problems curtailed my road riding, I kind of lost interest in pro cycling. But I listened to hundreds of hours , lots of replays , with Paul and Phil and find this really saddening. RIP Paul.

Started watching the tour whilst living in the UK during the 1990s. The principal attraction was listening to both Paul and Phil elevate this wonderful race beyond sport. They both painted the most artistic verbal pictures of France and provided expert personal insights. Can only imagine how Phil must feel, as close friends just cant be replaced.

I fell in love with cycling due to these two great men covering the Tour de France. Now, I have to listen to two Aussies commentating awkwardly and incoherently, talking over one another, making most vacuous comments... sucking the life out of watching this sport.

Oh, that's very sad and so young. I follow the tour but had not realised Paul had passed away. A wonderful tribute. I always enjoyed listening to the commentary of Paul and Phil together on the tour. RIP Paul. Thank you.

Grew up with Phil and Paul commentating on the tour on channel 4 and then on itv4 Was disappointed when itv ditched them in 2016 (although millar and boulting have done a fine job to be fair ) They will always be the best for me

David Mayer-Oakes & Hans Schneider were 2 roommates with Paul who subsequently filled the amateur ranks with Cycling Talent for "Phil and Paul" as they turned Pro, chapeau
