I reckon I must have bought Split in 1972 when I was 16. Always loved it & never really understood why the album didn't get the same reverence as Led Zep II, Deep Purple In Rock & Paranoid. Guitar shredders everywhere should be strapped into a chair & forced to watch your Split Part II lesson. It demonstrates how you don't need to play a billion notes per minute to make a guitar classic, just class, talent & a febrile imagination! So sad to hear of Tony's death yesterday. Maybe now he'll get the recognition he DEFINITELY deserved.
