Here in Tennessee, winter passes and comes back ten times (beautiful riding yesterday), but when summer arrives, it STAYS PUT.

Just made a new trail yesterday up very similar type of terrain (not as steep through!) here in Tennessee. Looked easy enough while we were cutting and clearing thorns and stuff, but wow these climbs end up being tougher than they look once on the bikes! We made it though, not too many stalls and stops, and no one tumbled back down! Thanks for this video!!!

Love to see some more vids on "track preservation". At the moment the lifespan for most new singles is two winters in vic if they get well known. I go hunting out old abandoned singles and find that after 20 years of use they never got rutted. Im not sure what changed... power delivery, riding technique, tyre tech etc. People really need to be educated on low tyre pressures and when to push or even avoid certain tracks all together in winter. We have whole riding areas where the entire single track network is one long rut.

Like the vidoes. Don't talk negative to someone attempting their climb. It doesn't matter what line or maneover didn't work for you, they are on their own line. The time for that talk is when the whole group is at the top.

Some great techniques on that hill. What I hate is when I’ve got a real good run and I almost make it to the top and then I stall it and roll backwards into a tree that standing there. The handle bar stops my downward descent but I get pinned can’t get off the bike and have to scream for help like a little girl.🤣

This kind of hills is where my high compression bored and cammed XR200 81 KX125 framed hybrid was awesome in . Huge torque right from idle and light weight

My ol IT200s loved that sort of terrain (I had a DT175 Roost Boost kit that lifted the torque curve (literally it boosted the roost). My YZ250 '97 initially made me work for it... till I discovered the previous owner had put the power valve arm in the lockout position (on the 97 there was a v on the end of the arm that could be placed over the travel stop pin, locking the arm at open so the power valve roller couldn't rotate. When I corrected that I ran the tyre off the bead locks as I was used to riding with 15 PSI and no powerband... On my enxt bike (I still have all 3) a YZ250 '99 the powervalve was a tongue design. I cleaned that and that is ALL the engine work I did in 10 years of use (not even a ring replacement). MAN that motor is beautiful... the shocks not so.... I made/fitted the largest flywheel weight I could (with a 6mm spacer between the cover/motor) and it climbs better than my now 50+ can handle anyways.

Years ago I tried riding an IT250 in this sort of terrain. Damn that was hard. No grunt, then a wicked powerband.

@@crosstrainingenduro Yeah we found the 250's to be a little more powerful than the 200's but way heavier. I had a 175k and that was the lightest thing I have ever ridden... but the 200s with the front disk was great... Riding without rear breaks (as the drums would barely make it half way in to a real forest ride) made me a better rider... Hard in. Hard on the front, hard on the throttle to get round... (hard landing when any of the above failed).

Looks like a great workout! My clutch would sound like that when new. It was also grabby and didn't engage smoothly. I was running Motul Transoil as recommended in the manual. I started running 5w-40 full synthetic in it. Tim from Beta suggested I run full synthetic 10w-40. I decided to try 5w instead. Clutch engagement is buttery smooth now with no grabbing. Plates have 250 hours on them and still look decent.

well im here because this video was posted to forum where they solved problem of squealing clutch. maybe sound is because of worn out thrust bearing and washer. i have same squealing sound on my husky, and will check in coming days how my thrust bearing and washer looks.

side hill and angles are your best friend to get going again.....sometimes. never good when you can hear the clutch.

I think a bike with a smaller engine often yields better results in some steep climbs. More clutch control required, rather than spinning the rear wheel and digging holes like we see all the time.

i would love to buy the 200 again. my last one was an 05 and i didnt like the engine's characteristics. maybe the 36 carb is better than the 38 my bike had

It's a grass tree.... very common along our east coast. They grow very slowly and can be hundreds of years old. For years they were called 'black boys' but in these politically correct times we sometimes say 'indigenous male youth' instead. 😎

52 here :-) We learned to ride on bikes without electronics, flexing frames, barely existing brakes, slippery tires and so on. Not that I consider myself a really good rider though. Just having fun and learning every time !

Wow I have never heard a clutch sound like that before. The usual clutch issues my group deals with are either snapped lever or cable, or the clutch stops working altogether. Did he need to replace his clutch after this ride?

@@crosstrainingenduro my old 2004 Husaberg 450 would make a similar noise when getting worked up a hill, apparently common for that model but never had an issue (well, besides the annoying sound).

We had a really good dealer who sets them up for our conditions. We barely use half a tank doing our slow snotty trails so I don't know about the economy. Sometimes it can be from that dumb float level at the factory leaking fuel a lot.

I see Jeff's radiator guard went west, I cable tie mine, after loosing some. Gotta the mountain goat beta, low down tractable, I need more of those climbs for practice, I do lots of hard enduro on rocks, loamy stuff is a challenge. Thanks Barry, best wishes continuing healing mate

I did climbs like that on my Yamaha tt600 in 1986. When things get really tough just run beside the bike till you get up the hill, not that hard... If l could add a photo I would. You young people, are so soft now days, with your upside down forks and all your soft protection clothing, all we wore were jeans and a jumper

You could benefit by dropping rear tire pressure all the way down to 2-3 psi with Tubliss. Additionally this is one of the scenarios where a Rekluse auto clutch is of considerable benefit. Just put the bike in second gear and modulate rear wheel torque with the throttle. The 300’s and 500’s have enough low end torque to pull the steepest climbs in second when fitted with the autoclutch. Less chance of looping out or digging a hole. The real advantage is that it is easier for most of us to manage the rear contact patch and maximize torque transfer to the ground this way. Best when paired with a LHRB. You can mock me for using a crutch if you want. I just go with what works best for me. Of course the top 10% riders will prefer the standard clutch. I just want to get up the hill.

I agree, Garth. Most of us are only running about 3psi with the TUbliss. I actually started this channel years ago using a Rekluse on my FE570 so I could keep it geared high for adventure riding but do snotty enduro trails too. Great for traction! But eventually I opted for trying to learn clutch skills in the meantime. I'll probably go back to one when my aging fingers complain too much!

I agree. Not sure who was wearing a necklace though? Speaking of weird things, Jeff had a low speed crash and had his neck trapped between the bike and a tree and couldn't breathe or move the bike. Thankfully I was right behind him.
