😢 I miss the hum drum of the 70 s, heatwave Summers and amusements all the way down, today its unrecognisable...shame change happens like this, its ruined..😢😢😢😢

Used to work in that bar when it was a bingo hall in about 78, the sandy coulourd building that you think was a bing hall was....if you walk further down & tuned left there lived the Blunsoms, Fred used to own a gorgeous 71 (?) black & gold Mustang.....oooh so many happy memories 👍

Hard to believe it used to be such a vibrant and cheerful place. So sad to see what's happened to good old Hayling.

I lived a bit further west - Webb Lane - from 1944 to 1950. That has really changed! I could show you where the field was where the milkman kept his horse…

I currently work and grew up going to hayling in the summer for the amusement park. Not much has changed over the 10 to 15 years sadly. Its slowly on a decline investment wise if i recall correctly. The amusement park is moreless on the run down now, down by the sea front the arcade bit is gone and replaced, much of the historical stuff on hayling still stands however even the old railway station getting a petition to rebuild its former glory.

You may like The Hayling Island Then and Now fb group. Its a nostalgia fb group for Hayling. Not for now photos or video though as the name may suggest . There is old video photos of Creek road on there too if you use the search within the group.

Interesting to see Elliot's Caravan Park and how it has changed. I posted a picture on The Hayling Island Then and Now Facebook group a few moths ago of when my family lived in two caravans on the site while we were between houses in the 60's.

Nice to hear from someone who also stayed there.

If you hadn't turned into Creek Rd but continued down Southwood Rd towards the end ,you would have passed where the house where my old house once stood.

the pub opposite the Dolphin Fish bar was the Kittiwake. The club on the seafront went through various names including the Beach Club

I remember going to the beach club between 1971 and 1974 , used to get battered by the sea . Hope the flats fare better!
