Wow, that was amazing. There is something about this scale....................................I'm not sure what it is but it's certainly addictive watching from the drivers seat. Thank you

Cheers Chris. Been a bit busy and haven’t done much to the layout so thought this would be a wee bit different. Hugh

Hi Hugh, Just a little bigger than what we are used to you running but great to see this super locomotive running. If you have time a video on the history of you getting this and keeping it running along with if you are willing to share the cost of having one of these would for me be interesting and another update on your rather smaller layout would also be welcome. Cheers Robert.

Thanks Robert. Hope you are well. This loco cost me £8750 in 2022 and I bought it from another club member. You could easily pay another £10k on top for larger 7 1/4” locos but equally, a better electric diesel is a lot cheaper. We are lucky that our model railway club is linked to a wider model engineering group. I am no model engineer but luckily, if you have a good loco, they don’t actually require a lot of maintenance. Ongoing costs are really just the rent of shed space (I keep it at the club) and the coat of coal and if you wish, insurance. The club does its own boiler tests and provides the necessary certificates for safety etc. it’s great fun and I have no regrets buying it. I have also been busy on our club OO gauge layout. It is having its debut at the Perth model railway show at the end of June. That and a few bouts of illness mean that I haven’t done much on Perth South recently unfortunately. I am however determined that once our club layout is ready, I will spend more time on my own layout. Trust you are enjoying your end to end layout. All the best and have a nice summer. Hugh

I bet you could’ve gone round all day! What a fine machine. A bit like a J13??? Lovely stuff.

@@Shelfandtabletoplayouts00gauge Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Loco is based on a Chapman and Furnaux built loco of 1901. Built for colliery at Morrison Busty (near Tanfield) and lasted until 1961.

Was at the last open day of last year and looking forward to the one at the end of this month. It's a lovely railway (and surprisingly large!)
