Tolarian Academy’s rise in LSV’s card rankings is proof no card exists in a vacuum. As the cube list and meta changes, old cards that might’ve seemed “weak” may someday see the same power shift as TA has seen.

Yeah that's how a lot of standard games ended back in the day. You could even get 3 pumps in a lot of turns from all the lands you had.

I would have sided in Elesh Norn and Lingering Souls (for Dream Halls) against JBro. She's hard to cast, but seemingly bricks his entire deck. The only out to her we saw in the first couple games was Venser, which isn't a fantastic game plan.

All opps were notoriously slow this time around. It goes to show how good of a player LSV is, but also how good at creating content, making this interesting even tho most of the time we are waiting for the opps to take action.

I’ve wondered before whether any of the others in this group are recording or streaming. Especially during the draft phase, Luis uses a lot of time talking for the benefit of the audience, but he’s never the slow one piling up packs.

29:45 I have played Raging Ravine and all the Worldwake manlands since their release across various formats and I've never thought about double activating Raging Ravine or seen that play from an opponent. Very cool!

How does LSV do these with specific friends then play the matches? I see him drafting on draftmancer, how do you go from there to mtgo? Do they just own all those cards and go freeform play?

Yes, a lot of old players have full collections, it's not as hard as it looks if magic has been your profession for a significant part of your adult life.

Taiga is $4 tolarian Academy is $.45 45 cents..... wait, it's even cheaper than I thought, I should dig up my account and buy this cube

fable over mox diamond in this deck was baffling to me. you're wanting to play extra lands with exploration and lotus field, it fixes your 4 colors and is an early artifact for academy. fable is way overrated imo. love the drafts tho.
