I am glad to see these stories come on youtube I was born in Kiuruvesi and like many many small towns have "sankarihaudat" this is the memorial burial ground of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, every town have them and Greatest Thank you to all my forefathers, that were there to fight for Finland to keep it Finland, for those that like to leave negative and ignorant comments please keep in mind that you are very likely living in a country, that is free because of these men. Rest In Peace!

Matti Kärkkäinen 15.11.1916 - 15.9.2019 Rest in Peace. He died almost 103 years old and lived 78 years after he walked 9 hours to get back to his unit as 'already dead man' from that bridge. Sisu!

You must always remember who abandoned Finland in their darkest hour, now the grandchildren of these very people and groups, run America & Europe. When times are bad , and things seem hopeless, I tell them to look at the Winter War. There is always the question "Whats That ?" , and of course I show them. There are thousands of us "Lost Children" of Scandinavia who will fight just as hard for what we believe in as did Finland did in 1939. (they just don't know it yet.)

A student of mine, from Finland, recommended the movie "Ambushed" to me.... but didn't know if there was a version with subtitles online. Is it possible to find it on your KZbin channel? Thanks.

The thing people dont remember here is that the zeitgeist during that era was something out of this world. Not only for Finland but for the rest o the world too, no one knew what to belive and think in the infact tiny baltic and scandinavian states. Wanting to ensure a countrys integrity, smaller states have always needed to cast aside their prejudices and basically do what is necessary. For the finnish struggle to get to be what it is known as today, you had to commit crimes like in all wars.

@blockthehood So you say Finns are cowards and dishonourable....When the winter war happened in 1939, the allies, British included, just stood there and said "well that's too bad", because they thought Russia would win in days, however they never succeeded in taking Finland, without the allies help, they claimed they were going to send help but Sweden didn't allow them to pass through their country, and later info has revealed that the allies, including Britain, only wanted to steal ore in Swe.

That is something I in no way approve of, and the continuation war fights which took us deep into russian territory is really something that a small scaled Finland should just forget about. And to somehow explain the people connecting Nazi Germany with Finland I have to say much of it is true. The whole early 20th century every finn looks up to germany, its like the cool older brother. People learnt german in schools as a 2nd language so it is actually hard to instantly chop of a link like that.
