My husband has several health issues that I have to care for. He doesn't need me all the time, so I have lots of free time. I know God led me to your page, I love looking at all the scripture writing and listening to your post. I feel close yet distant if that makes sense.. Thank you for listening.

Hi Anita! I am praying right now that the Lord will show you your usefulness! I know he has a plan to use you for his glory. I am asking him to open opportunities for you to serve him in an area where you have interests. Do you have any hobbies, like crafting or gardening or baking? We usually find that God opens doors in the areas where we have an interest. You have been, and continue to be, a kind caretaker for your family. May the Lord show you what he has in store for you next! Sending hugs♥

It’s always so nice to “visit” with you Sherry! I rarely go on Facebook but I went over and read the posts on Proverbs 31. I loved them both and I’m looking forward to reading the rest to come. When I was a young wife and mother I would have loved to have had a mentor of some sort to teach me these attributes. I didn’t grow up in the church but I was saved in my early 20’s although I had been reading my Bible for years by then. I think your page and posts are the new version of being a mentor and it is so valuable to so very many women. Thank you so much for your obedience and faithfulness! ❤

I don't do social media, but I love your videos, this chat was so uplifting. As you spoke about about praying for the woman in dollar tree, the other woman with came with her terrible news, I was just thinking how God brought you all together at that moment. When I hear things like that it just reminds me the Lord is always there, watching, knowing and meeting needs. You and what happened are miles from me but the fact this happened by Gods hand and perfect timing impacts how awesome our Saviour is. Do you have anymore things like this to tell? I would love to listen, I think they may be wonderful to share for bedtime stories, blessing hearts before sleep 💖

My mom had a subscription back in the 60’s. She LOVED Ideal magazine! We didn’t have much and she was thrilled to have that magazine. Fast forward when I was working and someone donated a years worth of magazines to the school and I just couldn’t put them down! I was reading from cover to cover and all the memories of back then came flooding back! a simpler time in those magazines! I started following you recently and shared with a friend and she’s loving listening to you too and it’s kind of encouraged both of us. We’ve been doing a Bible study together for over 15 years and we both have started doing a little journaling with a scripture and a drawing. We both have agreed that you could definitely be part of our inner circle of people you would fit right in as a sister in Christ! And of course you are!

Sherry, I really appreciate you. Talking about what you have gone through in the past, is what I’m going through now. I have been a stay at home mom for the last 15 years. I have raised 2 different generations of children. My oldest daughter is 35. My youngest just turned 18 in May. I have been raising my grandson since he was born, so I am mom to him. He is a freshman in high school this year. This summer has been so different for me. My daughter graduated in the spring, and teenagers these days are busy doing their own thing. My daughter has been spreading those wings and moved in with a friend. I have really been going through an identity crises. When your identity is Mom, and they don’t need you anymore, it’s tough. I’m not sure why it has hit me so hard. She’s my 4th child to leave the nest. I’m 54, and have felt “all used up”. What now? I have spent my life taking care of little people. God has given me a silver lining. I got hired as a teachers aid for 2nd grade in a small school. We should be in school already, but we had some bad storms and there is damage to the school. We start September 3rd. I am very excited to get to spend my days with little people! I am also very nervous. I haven’t had a job in years. I know it will be so rewarding. So all week long I will hopefully get to impact some children’s lives. And on Friday nights I will be at the football fields watching my boy, march his first year in the high school band. He is so excited. So am I. And I love the Godly woman posts very much. You have never posted anything I haven’t loved. ❤️

I love the idea of praying in the moment. There is so much going on in our lives and even prayer requests get pushed to the back of our minds but to be able to pray right then and there is a wonderful connection with the person and God. This chat was timely too in that I often feel a little out of touch. My daughter and her family live 400 miles away and I’m not involved daily in their lives. We visit often, video talk every other week, and help when we can but their lives are not really God centered and my advice is often not welcome or even asked for. It’s sad but the lines of communication are always open and you reminding me of other ways I can connect through church or even just in every day life with those who are in need of prayer or help is very encouraging.

Wow, you spoke to my heart! I lost my job in 2018, became a homemaker, my children are grown and I have nine grandchildren. I have really struggled with finding purpose and feeling useful. I have yet to figure out what I'm suppose to do with the rest of my life. I have an unfulfilling marriage as well. I try to focus on my relationship with the Lord, hearing his voice and reading scripture. I belong to a sisters prayer group in which I pray for people in a church thousands of miles away. I feel like I need to do more. I need activity that makes a difference. Thank you, Sherry!

Hi Sherry. you seem to always have the prettiest blouses that you look so pretty on you and here is another one. I remember the ideas book. Sometimes I see them at yard sales etc.. You do have a lot going on and I sure hope you keep making videos on You Tube since I am not on Facebook. You channel keeps me going. My NLT Bible has no come in yet. Starting tonight and tomorrow night and Saturday a.m. Me and my friend are going to this Church and this gentlemen is bringing up the different translations and showing the differences. There is BIG change in the wording of them compared to the KJV, So here I go again LOL, But I hope to finish this 2 evening and 1 Saturday morning conference or seminar etc. It's very interesting, but kind of upsets me that I just cannot catch on to the KJV so I can try and learn more, When I seen the comparisons of different ones with the KJV on a slide screen it was amazing how much is left out about I guess Jesus and the words they use it really changes the KJV meaning. Guilt really sets in, but I guess people think I'm crazy if you don't understand that version. I Pray first but I will just have to wait and see that happens. Those Ideas Books are nice. You are such Blessing to me. Like I said I am busy, single etc.... and am lonely and I appreciate you being my you tube friend. God Bless You and it sounds like you channel is doing good. Thank You Jesus. TY for taking the time to read my loooooong text. Thank You Dear Friend. Your Lovely.💐
@thehomespunwife3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me, Mary. I do hope you enjoy your Bible when it arrives. When it comes to translations, it's difficult to talk about in a simplistic way. In the early 1600's when the KJV was being put together, scholars worked the best they could with what they had. Since that time, more manuscripts have been found that actually predate the ones used when translating the KJV. The oldest ones would be likely the most accurate. In these older manuscripts, some phrases simply weren't present. John 5: 4 is an example. It's there in the KJV, but in the New King James Version you will find a footnote with that verse. That footnote explains that this verse was not found in many of the older Greek texts. The NASB translation puts this verse in brackets. And the NIV actually puts the whole verse down in the footnotes, meaning John 5: 4 is missing up with the other verses. So various translations handle this situation in different ways. It's not that the KJV scholars added to the Scripture or that more modern scholars have taken Scripture away. It's that in the past 400+ years, additional discoveries have been made. And we have come to learn a lot more about older manuscripts and how they may or may not have been part of the original texts of Scripture.

Hello Sherry, I am new to your channel. Thank you for your videos, I remain so calm when listening to you. I just started Scripture writing, and I am already a few day behind. I love to create journals when I have time and I made one about a year ago and chose that one to write my Scripture in. My intent is to memorize Scripture, so that I can easily retrieve from memory one day. I will look at some of your older videos and gleam from those and then maybe I can share or suggest something from you. I think what you talked about in your Tuesday Chat was really good. I sometimes forget to pray for people when I am asked, so now I have either been writing it down on a post it and placing it inside my Bible or I have been just stopping at the moment of notice and saying a prayer as you did with the ladies in the Dollar Store. I try to consistently intercede, for all and everything but then become anxious so I just pray that God will burden my heart with whom might need prayer. Again Thank you

❤❤❤❤This. Thank you so much for this Tuesday chat. Maybe this could become a weekly thing. Short and sweet chat. A live would be nice if you could where we could have a conversation with you via the chat box. Interesting enough I’m in a season now where I am feeling that slight loneliness you mentioned. My kids are grown and gone. I have 4 grandkids but they are all in school and parents are busy so don’t see them as much as I’d like to inspite of them living close by. So as I messaged you one time; I’m seeking God on pursuing my passion as a small business to stay active and busy. My husband still works so I am home alone with plenty of time on my hands. One of my desires is to go deeper with the Lord and the scripture writing has been a God send and I believe one of the ways God has answered me. I spend my mornings in his word and seeking his wisdom. My hearts desire is to be in his perfect will in whatever I pursue. Thx again for this chat.

I can relate to what you said in the beginning of the video. I'll be 53 in September. My kids are adults. One moved out but two are still here. My husband wants them to leave but I don't want an empty house. I already feel so lonely because everyone works full time. My son got a bad diagnosis last August. He has Crohn's and now a rare liver disease but I feel like the Lord told me to stop saying that. I was telling someone at our parish about my son and asking for prayer. I just kind of lost it after the diagnosis and was going around to anyone and everyone asking them to pray. He's well known because he works at our Diocese. But as I was telling yet another person, I felt like God spoke to me again and I felt conviction like never before. I heard Him say "you'll kill your son faster than the disease because you're speaking it out constantly. You ask me for healing but yet you keep speaking the name of the disease." It wasn't a scary voice. It was loving but firm and I knew it was the Lord. I digress.... So I have been kind of lost. I'm not raising children anymore. I can't cook a nice Sunday supper because everyone is on a certain diet. I don't work due to anxiety disorder with agoraphobia. I don't even know what my purpose is but I'm asking God to show me. I have a few inches of white and gray and I don't want to color anymore because it burns my scalp but everyone, mostly my daughters, get upset and think I just want to get old or something. Then, my body has been changing and I'm very apple shaped so I don't even know what to wear anymore. I always had a problem with dressing much older than my age. I want to look good for myself and my husband but I honestly don't know what to wear. Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your videos and your honesty. God bless you Sherry. You might remember me from past videos. I asked you to do one on adult children living at home because our daughter was not listening to house rules and she's bipolar but was refusing medicine. My name is Nancy but I use Grace here on KZbin. I didn't feel comfortable using my real name. I think as I get older, I'm becoming more cautious about everything.

Hi Nancy! Thank you for sharing more about yourself with me. It seems like you are going through that same stage that so many of us experience when our children grow up and we feel that life is passing us by. Yet I know that God has a plan for you! He has a purpose for your life and I pray he will open the door of opportunity for you. Perhaps you have time to volunteer in your church or community. Maybe you could join a women's Bible study. Local libraries often have posters and brochures about local groups and activities. If you sing, you could join the community choir, for example. Scripture Writing is also a great daily exercise that brings peace and joy! Whatever God leads you to do, I know it will be a blessing to you, and you will be a blessing to others!♥

Hi Sherry. Thank you for this chat…😊 My husband and I have been attending this wonderful little Baptist church for one and a half years now. We have come to know the Lord and were baptized together on Easter Sunday. We both serve in the church now, using our talents. Here is my dilemma: it’s hard to have meaningful conversations with everyone because they haven’t known us long, and when you just ask “how are you today?” , the conversation doesn’t often lead to deeper sharing. What do I say, or what can I do to feel like I fit in more? Usually, the most people will say to me is to compliment my piano playing or say something about my hair, which is a white silver and long. I’m the only older lady with long silver hair in the congregation, so I guess it’s a novelty! But I would like to move past those things and have more meaningful conversations. Do you have advice for new members at a church? Thanks so much for all you do for The Homespun Wife. God is truly using your talents to touch others. ❤-Brenda (in Virginia)

Hi Brenda! Most Baptist churches offer Sunday School classes. Does your church have that? This is a way to get plugged into a smaller group than just the church at-large. Sunday School classes sometimes have gatherings once a quarter...or more often. They go to eat together or have a fellowship. Speaking of fellowships, does your church ever offer those? Sometimes we have spaghetti lunches or Homecoming meals. In this type setting we can sit at tables with smaller groups and chat and get to know others better. Most churches also have opportunities for service. They might have a quilting group that meets once or twice a month, a women's Bible study group, a women's missions group (or three or four of them), a comittee that helps with baptisms or setting up communion, or workers in the kids' programs. You could call your church office and tell them, "We would like to get plugged in to some type of ministry. We want to get to know some of the people in the church and help serve. Do you have groups in the church like this? How can we get more involved?" Someone on the staff should be able to help you find a place where you can connect!

@@thehomespunwife Thank you for your suggestions and yes our church does have a few of these smaller group opportunities. There is only one Sunday school class (church attendance has shrunk since the congregation has aged-no young families at all right now). They offer senior luncheons where anyone interested comes to the specified restaurant for lunch. There aren’t a lot of pot lucks due to aging congregation. However, our pastor works long hours all week trying to get things done to start having a nursery or toddler room for when a young family does show up. After reading your suggestions, I see that I’m doing what I need to do to try and get to know folks. I guess I want everything “now” and God is showing me that His timing is what is best. I do have a few people I can talk more in depth with. I will pray for patience as He leads me into stronger connections with other congregants. I do appreciate your kind and helpful words…..😊❤️

I love your channel and blouse. I needed this message today. I have a question is there a list of scripture somewhere that I can download of the promises of GOD. I wanted to write them out. Thanks for doing this channel. It means a lot to me. Have a blessed week.😊

Hi Machelle! I will see if I can find a site that has a downloadable list of God's promises. I used to have a little book that contained the promises of God, with the Scripture references. I will try to go through my bookcase to see if I still have it. Seems like I gave it away to someone who needed it. It's possible we could do a Scripture Writing month based on this theme!
